Half a full moon ago, dahlings, cult cosmetic brand Shu Uemura reached Philippine shores with a flagship counter at Rustans Makati. It was a night that celebrated art and beauty, with a never-before-seen live make-up show by Shu Uemuras chief make-up artists Kakuyasu Uchiide and Yuji Asano flown in from Japan for the launch.
For local flavor, palanggas, there was "Mode Impressionism", a collaboration between Shu Uemura and Manilles top 5 make-up artists on 5 known faces. Invitees applauded the photos taken by Ronnie Salvacion of "Eye Candy" by Shu Philippines make-up expert Xeng Zulueta on sultry Rosanne Prieto; "Ageless" by Juan Sarte III on Susan Reyes; "Raw Glamor" by Jing Monis on Kitkat Zobel; "Light Years" by Lala Flores on Hindy Tantoco; "Deconstruction" by Henry Calayag on Celine Lopez.
Showing how important Manila is to them, Shu Uemura Japan sent over evp-coo Edouard Roche to introduce the brand. With powerhouse heads of the Rustans Group Bienvenido Tantoco Sr. and Bienvenido Tantoco Jr. making the introductions, everyone knew it was a special night.
Shu Uemura has arrivedand is here to stay, dahlings!
Remember, palanggas, "Many books can inform, but only the Bible can transform." Smile. See you.
