Every Golfer’s Dream

It was a fantastic get-together of Rupert Jacinto’s favorite subjects, dahlings, to mark another glam-year of his life. Portrait-perfect the ladies came, society icons like Chito Madrigal Collantes, Tingting Cojuangco, Ping Valencia, Myrna Borromeo. Acclaimed designer Rachy Cuna decorated the patio with a magnificent centerpiece of birds of paradise sprayed in gold, with red wild flowers; orchids in gold were on each table.

Rupert’s mom Red Jacinto and mother-in-law Julie Hidalgo joined other invitees like Boots and Andy Soler, Jesi and Gina Mendez, Nora Jacinto, Eddie and Katie Jacinto, Nanette dela Cruz. Apres the excellent dinner, brother-in-law Danny Favis accompanied the guests when they sang, like Manoling Collantes who sang Ikaw, and the celebrator who sang If I Loved You, his late father’s favorite song which he sang for his mother.

That is, to get a chance to measure one’s game against the world’s best, dahlings. 33-year-old Yuri Allado won that chance by scoring a net 68, beating his closest rival Jay Tuazon by five points at the Lancome Cup Challenge II at the Sta. Elena Golf Club. The good weather, his brilliant putting and conservative "just birdie each hole" strategy all came together to get Yuri his first trip to Europe to play in the Pro-Am at the 33rd Trophee Lancome half a full moon ago at the exclusive course of Golf de Saint-Nom-La Breteche in France.

Jetted to Paris by Air France, Yuri found himself in the field that the likes of King Leopold of Belgium, 007 Sean Connery and race car driver Alain Prost had participated in. The team of last year’s champion Alice Jose tied for first but lost the championship via count back.

PR and publicity firm RPA & Communicate, palanggas, together with its events and talent management group People & Parties and design house 42N8, celebrated its new offices at Raffles Corporate Center in Ortigas a full moon ago. The firm behind giants like Levi’s, Dockers, Warner Music, Streetlife, television’s AXN and Nickelodeon moved to accommodate the growth of its business, coming out from the shadows into the spotlight.
