Chivas & the pink rose

The "smoothest Scotch whiskey in the world", Chivas Regal, dahlings, brought to Cosmo Manille not just one but five! music capitals in an all-night party in the streets of hip Malate. Host and "travel guide" for the evening Joey Mead led guests first to Vienna, Austria where the Neo Classic Ensemble played light classics. Next stop was London, where Polyester dished out British pop. In Jamaica, Bowman Revival played the sensational rhythms borne in the late ‘60s, reggae. The Brownbeat All Stars brought the house down with hot jazz from fabulous New Orleans, and a wild foam party capped off the Chivas gig at the hippest party place, Ibiza, Spain.

Partying with a vengeance, palanggas, were Seagrams’ hot shots Nick Carr, Peter Prentice, Soon Eng and R Ramesh, Manille’s movers and shakers like Tony Valdez, Duty Free’s Michael Kho, hunk Jack de Mesa, restaurateur Colin McKay, designers Robi Lolin and Avel Bacudio, Fran Ripano, Katrina Lagman and Felipe Villaroman. Luigi Avance and Claudine Trillo instantly got the five-CD Chivas Collection, which could win them some amazing prizes like trips to any one of the five exciting cities.

Paint the town pink was the order of the night at fabi Venezia Bar, when Tequila Rose was launched at a chic happening. Tickled pink were Premier Wines and Spirits boss Ted McDonnell and Venezia’s Louie Ysmael, who welcomed party people Ana Garamendi, Channel E’s Rea Gomez, Cristina Pecson, Maricris Abad Santos Albert, Chestnut Heredia, Pepper Teehankee, Bebeth Timbol, Geoff Simpson and Joan Mitchell, who were among the first to taste the brew and discover that pink doesn’t always mean dainty.

The spirit base of Tequila Rose, dahlings, is the finest 100 percent blue agave tequila, rated the No. 1 tequila at the recent World Spirits Competition. Add a rich butterfat strawberry cream made in Holland, and you have an irresistible winner.
