Wilfredo “Willie” Buendia Revillame comes from humble beginnings, a graduate of the school of hard knocks.

Starting out his career as a drummer, he made his showbiz debut on Lunch Date in the late ‘80s as one of the “Hawi Boys.”

He then went on to acting in movies and more hosting stints on Sang Linggo nAPO Sila and Magandang Tanghali Bayan.

Wil, as he is more known now, got his big break as a sole host of Wowowee, and it was here that his generosity and penchant for public service was recognized.

Around 2010, Wil joined the TV5 family with his show Willing Willie, which later became Wil Time Bigtime, then Wowowillie in 2013.

Eleven years later, Wil returned to TV5 on the strength of a new partnership with MediaQuest Holdings, TV5’s owner. In June last year, Wil announced that his new show on TV5 was Wil to Win, with the pilot episode “Wil-Come Back Party” airing in July.

Since then, Wil has continued to not just entertain viewers with bedazzling game segments and show numbers, but also help the less fortunate in whatever way he can through his show.

Such was the heart of Willie Revillame. Even during his trying times, he never backed down from helping those in need who would come to him for assistance, from endearing friends to total strangers.

Realizing Wil’s potential in both business and entertainment, the MVP Group of Companies, through MediaQuest Holdings Inc., is teaming up with the TV host and Golden Pacific Holdings Inc. to put up a P4-billion multi-purpose building project beside the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong.

A memorandum of agreement for the construction of the project, featuring state-of-the-art studios, modern office spaces, as well as volleyball and basketball courts, was recently signed by Revillame with MVP Group chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP), MediaQuest Holdings president and CEO Jane Basas, and Golden Pacific Holdings president JP Padiernos in simple ceremonies in Mandaluyong.

The 10-story building will be called the MVP Quest Building.

“This is an exciting new chapter for MediaQuest and our partners. This new building is a significant investment that will help MediaQuest bring joy to Filipinos for decades to come,” MVP said. “This is really a special building and studio dedicated to Willie’s show, which is six days a week. But when he’s not using it, it can be used for other shows on TV5.”

MediaQuest president and CEO Jane Basas said that the development would be divided into two phases, with the aim of completing the entire project in two and a half years.

Turnover of the first phase, which will see the development of W Studios, the new home of Revillame’s Wil To Win, is targeted before the end of the year.

Jane said that “Studio W is obviously going to be a new home of the Wil To Win show. So we’re going to uproot them from Novaliches when this is done and bring the show here. And that’s the phase one. That’s our priority.

She added that “there’s going to be a phase two where we’re building a 10-story building which will now house studio EAT, the new home of Eat Bulaga and Studio Q, which is the new home of the new other shows that MediaQuest will be doing between now and the future.”

Jane said that the group is looking to sell its over a hectare property in Novaliches to raise funds for the new project in Mandaluyong. “So part of the funds that we will use to build will be coming from the proceeds of the sale of Novaliches,” she said.

I wish this partnership all the success.
