Yoo Yeon-seok, Chae Soo-bin win Best Couple award

MANILA, Philippines — "When The Phone Rings" stars Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin won several awards including Best Couple at the 2024 MBC Drama Awards.

The awards ceremony annually recognizes outstanding achievements in Korean dramas aired by organizers of the Munhwa Broadcasting Corp.

The live telecast lof this year's edition of the awards was cancelled following the tragic Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crash in South Korea which killed 179 people.

On top of the Best Couple plum, Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin individually received Excellence in Acting awards, the former in the Top category with "Chief Detective 1958" star Lee Je-hoon and "Knight Flower" actress Lee Ha-nee.

Yeon-seok was also up for the Daesang prize which ultimately went to "Doubt" star Han Suk-kyu, the project being his first for MBC in almost 30 years.

The two actors' co-star on "When The Phone Rings" Heo Nam-joon won the Best New Actor award alongside "Black Out" star Lee Ga-seop while Suk-kyu's "Doubt" co-star Chae Won-bin won the female counterpart.

"Knight Flower" star Lee Jong-won was an Excellence in Acting recipient alongside Soo-bin. Byun Yo-han of "Black Out" and Kim Nam-joo of "Wonderful World" won Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.

The last major prize, Drama of the Year, went to "Chief Detective 1958."
