Sunshine on the runway

WORDSWORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star
Sunshine on the runway
The radiant Sunshine Cruz.

At the recent Bench Fashion Week 2024, actress Sunshine Cruz was a standout.

She gracefully walked down the runaway showing her sexy body and looking so radiant with her glass skin and timeless beauty. Sunshine, who was the finale of the Bench Fashion show, confidently modeled black Bench underwear with a net skirt cover.

Sunshine is the daughter of the late Danny Velez Cruz, who comes from the well-known Cruz family in showbiz and was a musician for the 747 band. Her mother, Alma Braden Cruz, who is now 75 years old, is still very active in business — buying, renovating and selling homes. Sunshine credits her parents for who she is now. “Two of the most important lessons my parents instilled in me are to always be kind and to help others, even in small ways,” shares Sunshine.??In spite of her busy schedule in showbiz and as a single mom, Sunshine still pursued her studies and graduated AB Psychology from Arellano University in 2017.

We asked Sunshine about her future plans and her reply was, “Five years from now, when I’ll be 51, I envision spending more quality time with my children, especially my mom. I hope to travel more often with them and maintain a healthy lifestyle so that I can continue to be healthy and happy for another 50 years. My ultimate goal is to cherish every moment with my loved ones and create lasting memories with them,” she adds.

With daughters Angelina Isabelle, Samantha Angelene and Angel Franchesca.

Here are some tips from Sunshine on how she maintains her figure and youthful looks at 46!

1. I try to drink around eight to 10 glasses of water a day. Fresh fruit juices count, too, but it’s best to prioritize water for hydration.?

2. I aim for about eight hours of sleep each night, and I don’t usually take afternoon naps.

3. I enjoy reading a variety of books. Self-help, fiction and poetry. I’ve finished all the Lang Leav books, and I am now finishing Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

4. To stop cravings, I distract myself with other activities like going for a walk, drinking water, or having a small portion of a healthier alternative (apple, unsalted nuts, banana) to satisfy the craving.

5. I enjoy boxing, typically at Elorde Gym, where I train with coach Caloy Baduria. I plank at home three to four times a week and use the sauna for 15 minutes, three times a week. Exploring various online workout routines adds variety to my fitness regimen and keeps me engaged.

6. Some of my favorite fruits are berries, banana and apple; while for veggies, I love spinach, broccoli and eggplant (tortang talong). I also enjoy proteins like chicken breast and beef tendon.

7. Getting old or having wrinkles is not something I stress too much about. I’m more focused on maintaining my inner health now that I’m 46. I’ve always believed that growing old is a blessing. My priority is to maintain healthy habits and fully enjoy life.

8. I surround myself with positive people and engage in activities that bring me joy. When faced with negativity, I practice mindfulness and focus on solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

9. I prioritize quality time with loved ones and make sure to communicate and plan ahead to manage my schedule effectively.?

10. I schedule regular health checkups/ basic blood chemistry tests every four to six months and make them a priority in my calendar. Taking proactive steps to monitor my health helps me stay on top of any potential issues and ensures I can enjoy life to the fullest.
