An all-about-meat afternoon recently took place at the Glasshouse of the New World Makati Hotel where Bord Bia, the Irish Government Food Board, introduced the “European Pork and Beef: Love the taste, trust the quality” campaign to drum up Ireland as a supplier of high-quality, safe and sustainably produced pork and beef.
Over 80 Filipino food industry representatives, which included top importers, distributors, wholesalers and influential chefs, and the media, attended the talks on Irish pork and beef production. A beef-cutting demonstration was also on the menu.
Program director Declan Fennel said Bord Bia aims for people around the globe to recognize that Irish food and drink are of high quality, distinctive, and made by a diverse range of creative producers from a unique and fortuitous island location.
During the event, we all noticed the excellent Irish pork and beef brought in by Bord Bia, as well as the amazing Irish Gallagher oysters brought by Dan Koh of Alaska Prime Seafood.
There were lipsmacking cheese and Irish butter from Kerrygold — one of my Top 3 favorite butter brands in the world! So, it’s good to know that Hightower Inc.’s Rey Co now imports Kerrygold products, which are available at Marketplace/Rustan’s, selected SM stores, S&R, Merry Mart, Ever, Landmark, All Day, Hi-Top and Fisher Mall. Word of advice for butter lovers: get the salted block butter, that one’s the best!
