Her father’s daughter
Architect Richelle Singson-Michael is the eighth among the children of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Chavit Singson.
Richelle, who graduated from the University of the Philippines (where she was a scholar) with an Architecture degree, leads R.S. Michael Architecture firm. She is the CEO of private jet chartering company Platinum Skies Aviation Inc. and has several projects in the aviation industry including jet hangarage, flight school and aircraft leasing. She is also currently undergoing training as a pilot.
Richelle also heads start-ups like transportation system u-hop.com, financial technology online loans program casha.me, and develops several technology-oriented real estate development projects.
In the entertainment realm, Richelle successfully led the 65th Miss Universe pageant held in Manila in January 2017. The event reportedly gained more than 34 million tweets during the live coronation event. Richelle and Mayor Singson was also active during last year’s Miss Universe pageant held in Bangkok, Thailand, where our very own Catriona Gray bagged the crown. (Richelle was part of the pageant’s all-female panel of judges.)
Some say Richelle is one of her father’s favorites, if not the favorite, as she is very dependable, accomplished and has carved her own name in her chosen field.
Let’s know more about Mayor Chavit Singson as Richelle shares with us 10 things not a lot of people know about her dad.
1. He is a true gentleman. He will seat the women first, open the door for them and allow them to walk first, eat first, etc.
2. He is conservative when it comes to his children, especially his daughters. No tattoos, no smoking, no “male” sports, no colored hair, no travel with boyfriends, etc.
3. Though he seems like a tough person, he actually has a very kind heart, is extremely generous and forgiving.
4. He would reprimand his drivers if they overtake other cars, or even for small traffic violations. He absolutely hates it when people use his name or feel like they can abuse power for having association with him.
5. His favorite past time to relax is playing tong-its with his personal staff or mahjong with his friends.
6. He has a tattoo of a tiger on his arm.
7. He cooks the best kare-kare.
8. He is updated with technology. He uses Google Calendar for all his appointments and even uses an app to analyze the wines that he drinks.
9. At events where there is clubbing music, he demonstrates his ability to dance with the millennials.
10. Every year on his birthday, he likes to escape to a private place abroad. But when he comes back, all his friends, employees and family always find a way to surprise him so he ends up blowing birthday cakes almost 10 times in his birth month!
