Healthy water is life

Doctors Z and Aivee Teo have been steering the Aivee Group towards a more holistic approach to wellness and beauty.  They established The Aivee Café and Dr. Food so their patients can eat healthy while having their beauty treatments. 

Recently, an intimate lunch was held at Sala restaurant in Makati City to introduce The Aivee Group’s latest innovation — the Aivee Water device.

Z and Aivee presented a video and explained the history of the development of the Aivee Water device. The device is simple, just put ordinary water in it and within minutes, it will become hydrogen water ready for drinking.

Tests have reportedly proven that hydrogen water helps boost immunity and metabolism, helps prevent certain diseases and helps lessen wrinkles.

During the launch, we also learned about the new machines and treatments that the Aivee Group offers. The Madonna Oxylight Facial (named so because this is reportedly the favorite facial treatment of the pop icon Madonna), Alma Q Crystal Black Peel, and the Salt Resurfacing, which will be available in the first quarter of this year. The Hyperbaric Chamber and Cristal Cryolipolysis (freezing of targeted fat pockets) will be introduced during the second quarter of 2018.

The Aivee Water device is available at all Aivee Clinics as well as the A Institute for an introductory price of P15,000 (it will later be sold at P18,000).

Chef Thierry Drapeau visits CCA

Prawns carpaccio bergamotte sorbet and vinaigrette

The Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila, together with the Institut Culinaire Disciples Escoffier (ICDE), welcomed award-winning chef Thierry Drapeau for a French cooking class and a Level 4 course at CCA’s campus in Makati.

Born in the city of Nantes in France, Drapeau discovered his passion for cooking at a very young age when he spent time with his father at a market. At the age of 21, he was already appointed as chef de partie (station chef/line chef) at a two-Michelin starred restaurant, La Bateau Ivre. He opened his own restaurant, Logis de Chabotterie and 10 years later, his restaurant was awarded with two Michelin stars.

Drapeau also cooked a wonderful four-course dinner for select guests right in the kitchen of CCA.  He prepared prawn carpaccio, seasonal vegetable salad, lamb with garlic confit and kumquat, and pineapple, mango, and lime Pavlova for dessert. Drapeau’s dishes were quite simple but they were packed with flavor!

Asian Cultural Council sale

The first auction of the year unfurls at the León Gallery Asian Cultural Council (ACC) sale on March 3, Saturday.

The Asian Cultural Council Philippines Foundation Inc. continues its fundraising campaign to support the ACC Philippines Fellowship Program. Over 400 artists and scholars (including National Artists Jose Joya and Alice Reyes) have benefitted from the fellowship grant through the support of ACC New York.

ACC grantees for 2017 were Kevin Castelo (Music), Faye Cura (Museum Studies), Winner Jumalon (Visual Arts), Russ Ligtas (Theater), Ea Tolentino (Dance), multi-grantee Grace Nono (Music), Ma. Cristina Sison (Theater)  and the UP Center for Ethnomusicology.

A lunch at Milky Way Café in Makati City was held to announce the sale at Leon Gallery to benefit the ACC. Ballerina Carissa Adea, an ACC grantee,  performed a special dance number for the guests.

The longest ivory crucifix known in the Philippines will be presented in the current ACC auction. The crucifix, which is dated from the 17th century,  measures 32 inches long, which is three inches longer than the previous record-holder. 

Handwritten letters by Andres Bonifacio will also be auctioned off along with several magnificent paintings including two that really caught my eye.

José Joya was the first artist to be granted a scholarship by the ACC (then Ford Foundation). Joya painted his masterpiece Space Transfiguration when he was just 29 years old. It is one of his most famous works and it has appeared in various books and publications and has been exhibited in museums both here and abroad. 

Another piece is Anita Magsaysay-Ho’s Tahip, which portrays a group of women winnowing rice.

A special preview will be held on Saturday,  Feb. 24 at the Leon Gallery.
