Inspiring excellence from within
How can learning centers train their students to be their best if the members of their staff are not empowered and inspired to do their best?
The best schools invest on their teachers and staff. The OB Montessori Center founded by Dr. Preciosa Soliven, for instance, gives its teachers and staff opportunities to travel to Europe for leisure, not just work.
There are also many other schools (like the Assumption Convent) that give scholarships to the children of their teachers and staff, even the maintenance staff, if the students meet the mark. In return, these learning institutions attract the best and the brightest mentors and personnel, therefore assuring parents that their children receive the best training or education that they can afford in these schools. Wages and benefits are part of the package that attracts competent employees. Recognition boosts this package. For who doesn’t want to be applauded publicly for a job well done?
First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA), as an academic institution that educates and molds future leaders, also recognizes those within its institution who embody the exceptional qualities of a leader. In whatever role, these people have made an indelible mark with their passion, dedication and hard work.
At the recent FPLA 2016 Circle of Excellence Awards Night, held in Antipolo, FPLA executive management honored employees who have inspired and have gone over and beyond their roles.
Philip Iñigo Cañizares of marketing and Arlene Tungul of finance (Circle of Excellence Award nominees) were lauded for being an inspiration to their co-workers and superiors. But it was Claro Abelardo Lagman from the sales department who took home the illustrious Circle of Excellence Award.
In the sales department, Maria Paz Pascua and Carmela Young (second and third placers, respectively), were honored for their resourcefulness and dedication in helping FPLA reach the revenue goals for the year. Maria Suzette Valmonte, on the other hand, was honored with the top prize and the distinguished Sales Achievement Award.
“The year 2016 was filled with numerous challenges, and we proved ourselves willing to see through any project or goal despite the hurdles,” recalled general manager and executive director Roy Agustin Evalle. “It was a colorful year, filled with memories. Looking back, we can see how much we have grown as an academic institution and family. None of the success of FPLA would have been possible without our loyal, hardworking employees. It was they who also believed and helped realize the vision.”
FPLA’s head for human resource and development Rommel del Rosario and head for innovations and digital programs Niño Enrico Cabredo shared the same gratitude for their teams and rallied more enthusiasm for the year ahead.
“I, along with the other executives, am full of gratitude. We are thankful to all those who have helped achieve the dream. It was not an easy task to say the least, and the work continues,” said del Rosario. “Following tradition, on this day, we honor all those distinguished employees who have selflessly shared their talents, time and passion in building FPLA into what it is today — a renowned corporate university.”
Every work day at FPLA is about furthering the goals and realizing the dream. During the Circle of Excellence Awards Night, FPLA set aside the day to recognize those who have gone over and beyond the call of duty. In his rousing speech about hard work and excellence, Cabredo said, “Excellence without innovation is temporary. Innovation without excellence is ordinary. Excellence and innovation define today’s generation. Excellence in innovation molds the next.”
“We’d like to thank again these esteemed individuals for all their support. They work hard, not expecting praise or notice in return, but we recognize them today for being an inspiration to all of us. We are grateful for their loyalty, and we look forward to building a brighter future with them and the rest of the FPLA family,” concluded Evalle.
