A double ‘A’ celebration
Exclusivity, terrific ambiance and excellent cuisine are just some of the prerequisites for a fitting venue that can accommodate a high-end event. Such was the case for a group of friends who went on a search to surprise lovely ladies Abeth Yu and Ayna Ong for their joint birthday celebration; and the unanimous choice was EDSA Shangri-La Manila’s Italian restaurant Paparazzi.
The restaurant’s sophisticated interiors, the very best of Italian fare and a solicitous staff were perfect for the special party led by LetLet Taleon Go and her husband Henry Cocabo. It was one of the more enjoyable evenings your columnist has experienced.
The select group of people who love the celebrators and enjoy close relationships with the other guests created such an enjoyable evening for the two wonderful ladies and their peers.
Looking forward to many more birthdays!
Music & hope
Beautiful classical music by some of the world’s greatest composers like Handel, Verdi and Tchaikovsky, as well as our very own filled The Peninsula Manila one evening.
It was a landmark fund-raising concert as the hotel assembled a stellar cast and put together a memorable musical repertoire performed by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Ruggero Barbieri, Rachelle Gerodias and Brigitte van Hagen (sopranos), Byeong-In Park (baritone) and a 50-voice choir composed of the internationally-renowned University of Santo Tomas Singers with Freddie Santos as concert director. Part of the proceeds raised benefited the continuing efforts of The Peninsula Hotels’ “Hope for the Philippines” fund.
A benchmark for luxury and sophistication, The Peninsula Manila — with its famous lobby — has continued to be the preferred meeting place of the country’s movers and shakers for decades now. Cheers!
