Salute to Salud
MANILA, Philippines - Tesoros, the store famous for quality Filipino-made gifts and crafts, recently paid tribute to its late founder, the woman who started it all — Salud Tesoro. Her story, Salud S. Tesoro: The Story of a Successful Entrepreneurial Filipina, was launched at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City recently.
Tesoros Group CEO Beng Tesoro said, “Our mother’s story is worth sharing because it is inspiring and moving. We believe (her) story will touch many Filipinos, especially the younger generation.”
The launch illuminated the life of Doña Salud through a special performance by Carlos Celdran and singer Myramae Meneses. The presentation involved visuals and sounds of her life, from her youth and humble years in Escolta, to her love story with lawyer Nestor Tesoro, to the founding of Tesoros in 1945.
The event showcased the diversity of Tesoros products, including its signature Filipiniana collection, classic pasalubong souvenirs and contemporary pieces and re-interpretations of Filipino folk art such as An Alcantara’s hand-pinched terra-cotta clay storyteller icons and Mary Velmonte’s papier-mâché creations.
