‘Your dance, your style’
MANILA, Philippines - One of the leading men’s hairstyling products trained the spotlight on talented young Filipino performers as they vied for the honor of being this year’s champions in Gatsby’s 7th Dance Competition.
The Gatsby dance contest, produced by Mandom Corp., is one of the biggest competitions aimed at featuring the best student dancers in Asia. Participating countries include Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines. The winner of the qualifying event in each country will move on to the finals in Tokyo, Japan on March 2015.
The dance competition’s Philippine finals was held at the Market! Market! Activity Center recently. The finals featured two categories: Open College Division (small crews) and College Crew Division (big crews). Ten groups in each category impressed the crowd and the judges with their awesome dance moves.
The exciting event also featured performances from up-and-coming local acts and boasted of an impressive lineup of judges from the who’s who in hip hop, street dance and modern dance.
This year’s small crew winners are HDZ Brothers (grand winner), DORA (first runner-up) and FEUsion (second runner-up); and big crew winners are FEUsion (grand winner), PUP Power Impact Dancers (first runner-up) and St. Benilde Romancon Dance Company (second runner-up).
HDZ Brothers will compete in Tokyo for the competition’s Asian Championship just like last year’s Philippine representatives, the Xtreme Dancers duo composed of Eddie Melody Jr. and Reymark Alminiaza. Melody and Alminiaza won the competition’s grand finals in Tokyo. The duo took home cash prizes and Gatsby products and had the opportunity to train with a professional dance group of their choice in Asia.
Alongside this year’s highly anticipated dance competition was the re-launch of Gatsby’s most popular hairstyling products in the country.
Mandom Philippines, the exclusive local distributor of Gatsby, presents four hairstyling wax variants that are the most popular among Filipinos, including Hard & Free for modern and pop hairstyles, Mat & Hard for trendy and stylish hairstyles that require volume and a matte finish, Power & Spike for active and metro hairstyles that require spiky and pointed ends, and Ultimate & Shaggy for “messy” and dynamic hairstyles. These most sought-after variants are greatly preferred because they are affordable and are easier to rinse off compared to clay.
Gatsby, with its wide range of personal care and hairstyling products, continues to be the leading choice for style savvy teens and individuals in Asia.
