MANILA, Philippines - A fun afternoon of Zumba, kickboxing and yoga kicked off this year’s Fitness Challenge, a global employee program organized by Citi to encourage its employees to get fit and healthy.
Citi Philippines CEO and fitness enthusiast Batara Sianturi led the first Zumba activity at Citi Square, home to the consumer bank headquarters of the largest bank in the country. Sianturi said, “Citi is deeply committed to the well-being of our employees, and through Live Well at Citi and in particular, the Citi Fitness Challenge, we want to create an environment where we encourage improved health and fitness among our colleagues around the world, plus the added incentive of supporting well-respected non-profit organizations. Through Citi Fitness Challenge, our employees can stay fit while giving back to the community at the same time.”
Several employees signed up for the challenge, a 30-day program where participants commit to fitness goals and track their progress within four weeks. As participants engage in the fitness activity of their choice and achieve personal fitness goals, they earn points, which are converted to charity donations. This year, Citi is donating $150,000 to three charities including the International Rescue, Project HOPE and CARE International.
Apart from the fitness sessions, healthy food sampling and wellness booths were provided by Yummy Diet, Conzace and The Zen Institute.
Citi raffled prizes like pedometers, travel kits, healthy food gift certificates and shirts. Jamba Juice also supported Citi employees through a smoothie drop, providing hundreds of healthy smoothies as a post-workout treat.
