MANILA, Philippines - The regatta held at Landco Pacific Corp.-developed Club Punta Fuego, in Nasugbu, Batangas was more of a party than a competitive event where boating enthusiasts celebrated their passion for sailing.
It was the 12th regatta organized by the Punta Fuego Yacht Club, which is perhaps the biggest event at Club Punta Fuego. The race consisted of six categories from Hobies to Cruisers.
Members and boat enthusiasts not only enjoyed the regatta but they surely enjoyed the spread, which Club Punta Fuego specially prepared for the occasion at the newly renovated San Diego restaurant.
The club has one of the most modern marinas in the country. It’s part of the many resort facilities at Club Punta Fuego, which is managed by Fuego Hotels and Resorts.
The club’s general manager Mikel Arriet has been with the Club Punta Fuego for almost a decade now. He says the club takes special pride in the marina. “It presently has 35 slots for the bigger yachts. All these slots are now occupied on five- to 10-year leases. The cost of the lease would depend on the size of the boat,†Arriet shared.
The dry docks are home to smaller craft such as Hobies and smaller speedboats and jet skis. More than 200 of these craft are ensconced at this dry dock. Yacht and boat owners avail themselves of the marina’s services, which include maintenance and washing. The marina is situated at a cove in Peninsula de Punta Fuego, which makes for an ideal natural harbor.
“Rest assured, the boats are well protected during stormy weather,†said Arriet.
