Vanquish your anguish!

PEOPLE - Joanne Rae M. Ramirez - The Philippine Star

It is designed, according to “eventologist” and TV host Tim Yap, “to make your anguish vanish.”

Your anguish about the fat in your midsection, that is.

Tim was referring to Vanquish, reportedly the first and only noninvasive body treatment that vanquishes fat cells in the midsection with no anesthesia or pain medication, no downtime; with short focused sessions (30 minutes per session) and with consistent and measurable results (about five centimeters or three inches off your waist or tummy) after four to five sessions only.

Doctors Aivee and Z Teo’s clinic is the first to bring Vanquish to the Philippines, after the couple heard a lot of positive feedback about the machine after it was launched in Singapore in October 2013.

Vanquish is manufactured by BTL Industries, which is into medical equipment, and is made in Europe.

Petra Kopecka, BTL’s regional manager for Southeast Asia, was present as Vanquish was presented to the media yesterday at the Teos’ elegant clinic at the Bonifacio Global City. (The Teos also maintain a clinic at The Paragon along Orchard Road in Singapore, at the Bellevue Hotel in Alabang and at the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital, where Aivee also reaches out to underprivileged patients.)

Petra recalls that when she first went to the Teos’ clinic at The Fort, she remembered her childhood dreams of wanting to be a princess. “The clinic’s ambience makes you feel that if you close your eyes, your dream will come true. In a sense, this is a place where many more dreams are coming true everyday...”

“Vanquish is the first and only contact-less machine for fat elimination,” Petra reveals. Nothing comes into contact with the patient’s skin during the session, which has to be supervised by a nurse.

“The broad radio frequency (RF) field is precisely focused into deep tissue layers while the skin is automatically cooled by the air,” she points out.

“Fat cells die and you pass them out in two to four weeks. This treatment is perfect for those who have problem spots, stubborn fat deposits. If you are really big, we recommend a weight-loss program first, then Vanquish to address the remaining problem spots,” Z elaborates.

I watched a patient undergo the treatment. An “applicator” (which looks like a waistband) that emits the RF is put over her midsection and she lies down. That’s it.

A Vanquish session in the Teos’ BGC clinic reportedly costs about P15,000, while a session in Singapore reportedly costs around S$800, and in the US, around $800. Results are seen in two to four weeks after the last treatment.

Aivee says that if one sticks to a healthy diet, drinks lots of water and keeps an exercise routine after a Vanquish treatment program, the fat cells in one’s midsection are vanquished for a very long time, if not forever.

“A miracle is always a joint effort — the patient’s and mine,” says the svelte Aivee.

Aivee says the treatment Vanquish offers is perfect for Filipinas who normally have a puson problem due to a genetic predisposition and a carbohydrate-rich diet.

Petra believes that the abdomen is the most watched part of the body in terms of weight loss or weight gain.

“If your abdomen is flat, people think you’re fit. People usually think of losing fat around the waist first before they think of losing it elsewhere,” she states. I agree — the stomach is the first to bloat if one has indulged in too much food or drink, if one does not exercise or move around.

Another reason for Vanquish’s popularity is that nothing pierces, pokes or touches your skin during the treatment except radio frequency.

“Filipinas are basically scared of going under the knife, and Vanquish is noninvasive,” Aivee adds.

“It is the most civilized way of improving one’s looks because it is painless,” Petra agrees.

Petra points out that in 2012, 90 percent of most patients, not just Filipinos, seeking beauty enhancement actually underwent noninvasive treatments, compared to past decades when they underwent surgery.

Quoting plastic surgeon Jason Pozner, Petra says the technology used by Vanquish is among the top three promising technological innovations in the beauty enhancement field. Soon, Vanquish for the thighs and arms will be launched.

Among those who have tried Vanquish in the Philippines is actress Judy Ann Santos. She agrees that there is no down time and the only sensation one feels is a “tolerable heat” on one’s midsection. No bruises or blisters. She complements her Vanquish treatments with workouts six times a week and by watching her food intake.

Hair artist Jing Monis has had a couple of Vanquish sessions and credits them for making him lose the inches he gained over the holidays. He heard about Vanquish on E! News and was happy it is now available in the Philippines.

Aivee says now is the best time to have a Vanquish treatment if one wants to be victorious on the beach this summer. Actually, summer or not, a woman is a winner when she feels she looks her best. She vanquishes doubts about herself and gains confidence.

In the battleground of love or work, we all want to be winners.

Time to vanquish that which stops us from achieving our dreams.
