Two momentous events were celebrated during a sumptuous dinner hosted by perfume icon Joel Cruz at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It was the 85th birthday of his beloved mother Milagros, who looked vibrant in red, and the 13th anniversary of Central Affirmative Co. Inc., the company that manufactures the trailblazing brand Aficionado Germany Perfume. Joel also took the occasion to share and give back to the community as he launched his Joel S. Cruz Aficionado Foundation Inc.
In lieu of gifts, guests were encouraged to make donations to the newly launched foundation, the Shining Light Foundation or the San Rafael Church in Laguna.
Long life to your mom, Joel, and more power to your business!
A surprisingly delightful day for Baby
A surprise birthday luncheon was hosted by the lovely ladies of All Nations Women’s Group for one of the country’s hardworking civic leaders, the president of Young Women’s Christian Association Baby Ortiz.
Close friends and well-wishers all gathered at Gloria Maris in Greenhills to spend this special day with the celebrator and enjoy the mouthwatering specialty dishes of the famed restaurant.
Wishing you more blessed years, Baby!
Jazz & martinis
Jazz aficionados were in for a treat as the Buzz Bros Band from the Netherlands recently graced one of Manila’s hottest nightspots, the chic Martinis bar at Mandarin Oriental Manila. The Dutch quartet entertained Martinis’ regulars and newcomers alike with their signature eclectic and funky jazz tunes with a unique ethnic touch.
The one-night-only event was held with support from the Netherlands Embassy in the Philippines led by its Ambassador Ton Boon von Ochssée who enjoyed the show with his wife Martine. They were joined by hosts Mandarin Oriental Manila’s newly appointed general manager Torsten van Dullemen, his wife Paola and hotel manager Oliver Kreuzer. Martinis manager JP Lizot and F&B director Peter Pysk ensured that guests sipped only the best martinis and cocktails in town.
Looking forward to more diverse, live music at Martinis!
Celebrating lifelong friendships
A joyous get-together among close friends in the social, civic, religious and business circles recently took place at the elegant Constellation of the Diamond Hotel organized by the ever gracious Sally Maliuanag.
Everyone enjoyed a sumptuous luncheon of the delicious and mouthwatering dishes prepared by the hotel’s culinary experts. An enchanting performance by the UP Diliman Chorale served as the final touch to the delightful gathering.
Bravo to Sally for making this wonderful affair happen!
