For the 70th birthday party of Derek Ramsay Sr., the beloved father of actor and model Derek Ramsay, guests had a rock-n-roll night at the RJ Bistro of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
The members of the Ramsay family always outdo themselves every year in their desire to surprise Derek Sr. on his birthday. The party they threw for him this year was definitely better than the last. Just when he was expecting a simple family birthday dinner, he was surprised to see over 80 guests waiting for him at the venue.
The invitation that guests received for Derek Sr.’s party was a 45-rpm record placed in an open envelope, which was made by eldest daughter Rojinie Ramsay-Cortes. Camilla Ramsay-Barclay baked sumptuous desserts for the guests to enjoy as they danced to live music from The Band of Brothers. Natala Ramsay-Bontilao serenaded her dad with a beautiful song while youngest brother D.A. wowed the guests with his amazing performances of Elvis Presley’s and The Beatles’ songs.
Those in attendance included Manay Tolentino, Gerry and Cynthia Rollins, Teresita Soliman, Richard Barclay, Marita Jimenez and lawyer Michael Kim.
Happy birthday, Derek Sr.!
Out of this world!
When the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched the space shuttle Atlantis into outer space in 2011, its crew was carrying eyeglasses on board, which enabled them to see without boundaries.
Titan Minimal Art, manufactured by the Austrian eyewear company Silhouette, made its 35th trip into space for an event steeped in history, providing astronauts with free, sharp vision. The eyewear, weighing only 1.8 grams, is not just the lightest eyewear in the world, but also in the universe. For more than 10 years now, Titan Minimal Art has been flying with NASA astronauts into outer space and accompanying them in their daily work in weightlessness.
View allWhen the eyewear brand was first introduced in 1999, it became a sensation because of its revolutionary reduction in weight. Today, the brand has sold over eight million models worldwide. So, it’s no wonder that NASA engineers and ophthalmologists continue to hail this eyewear. For the critical experts at NASA, it is not only the weight component of the eyewear that is significant. They also put importance on the brand’s innovative technologies such as screw-less and hinge-less design, the enormous elasticity and sturdiness of titanium (the material used in the product), and, of course, the perfect form and fit of the eyewear. Titan Minimal Art is 80-percent handmade.
Silhouette recently launched its new collection of eyeglasses and sunglasses at Whitespace in Makati City with Andreas Grof of Silhouette Austria. Grof gamely answered all the questions about the brand.
Special guest was NASA astronaut Mark Polansky who gave stories about his Silhouette eyeglasses and his adventures in outer space. Of course, everyone wanted a photo with him including myself since he is the only person I have met who has been literally “out of this world!†I had my photo taken with him and he noticed the Silhouette eyeglasses I was wearing, which I have been using for over 15 years now.
