Color & drama

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

“Color is life.”

We couldn’t agree more with this statement by Leïla Menchari, Hermès director of window displays for 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré and director of the color panel.

With a palette of 75,000 colors exclusive to the brand — from cerulean blue to scarlet red, citron yellow to other hues we never knew existed — Hermès’ silk offerings boast an effective harmony of color combinations and intricate and vibrant prints unlike any other.

“Bad colors don’t exist, only bad combinations,” Menchari said. The process of making the carré or scarf is so precise; it takes about two years and 20 artists and involves engraving, coloring and printing — all done by expert artisan hands.

Hermès Philippines country manager Mario Katigbak welcomed select guests from the media and high society as well as loyal patrons of the brand to view and experience the latest silk selection at the Hermès shop in Greenbelt 3. The women also discovered ingenious ways to accessorize, tie and wear an Hermès scarf.

Wear the palettes of your life with Hermès! A dinner most impressive

The Tivoli, Mandarin Oriental Manila’s fine dining restaurant, is fast becoming a destination of choice for celebrities and women who love to entertain.

Recently, 2010 Best Dressed Women of the Philippines awardee Salome Uy invited her friends 2011 Best Dressed Women of the Philippines awardee Connie Haw, Ofelia Wadle, Arlene Yu and Amelia Ting with yours truly to share a splendid menu of contemporary European cuisine, which The Tivoli is famous for.

Impeccable service, a luxuriously dramatic ambiance and soothing music made the night perfect, with delicately plated dessert chocolates as the pièce de résistance. Each lady was more than thrilled to bring home a complimentary vase of orange roses from The Tivoli.

Many thanks to Mandarin Oriental’s new general manager Torsten van Dullemen and communications director Charisse Chuidian for another lovely dining experience!

Weekend in paradise

In wanting to share the paradise haven that is Pearl Farm, Linda Floirendo-Lagdameo arranged a trip with her dearest friends for a weekend of sand, sea and the best of Davao’s local cuisine.

The group enjoyed a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city while soaking in the sun and island hopping around Davao’s other beautiful islets. It was indeed a weekend to remember.

A relaxing time at The Bellevue Manila

Taking time off from their busy schedules to unwind were the hardworking executives of Amkor Technology Philippines, Inc. (ATP) as they headed to Café d’Asie, the prime dining outlet of five-star hotel The Bellevue Manila. The members of the group, together with their foreign counterparts, were very impressed with the top-notch service provided by the hotel’s efficient staff as well as the sumptuous dishes served at Café d’Asie.

Kudos to the untiring Bellevue Hotels and Resorts (BH&R) managing director Patrick Chan and team for making The Bellevue Manila a beacon of five-star hospitality in the southern metro!

Until the next “meeting,” ladies and gentlemen!
