The power to do more

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee - The Philippine Star

In this age where technology is more of a necessity, people rely on faster solutions so they can perform better and do more.

At the Dell Solutions Tour 2013, Dell announced that more and more customers worldwide rely on its technology solutions and services since the company has embarked on its transformation over four years ago.

The computer technology company supports millions of customers around the globe, including 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies, governments, educators, healthcare organizations and consumers. More than 10 million small-medium businesses rely on Dell solutions and services to grow their businesses and serve their customers.

Sumir Bhatia, Dell Enterprise Solutions director for South Asia, said, “Today, Dell is better positioned than ever before to deliver innovative, end-to-end solutions. We’re investing to help our customers be successful and secure in a world being transformed by the forces of cloud, big data and mobility.”

Customers in more than 180 countries around the world recognize the value Dell brings to their businesses. The company’s commitment to providing customers innovative, industry-leading solutions and services has changed the profile of Dell in the marketplace.

CEOs from top companies also gathered to celebrate the successful solutions tour through a Kentucky Derby-inspired event led by the team of Dell South Asia Developing Markets Group segment marketing consultant Charlotte Rogacion.  Also in attendance were Dell Asia Pacific Japan Regional CEO Justin Mennen and Dell International Services Inc. president Richard Teo.

The Dell Solutions Tour in the Philippines was supported by Intel and Microsoft as Platinum sponsors; and VMware, Schneider Electric, Integrated Computer Systems Inc. and Trend Micro as Gold sponsors.

‘Pilot your life’

Known for being “big in oversized watches,” international watch brand TW Steel staged a full day of celebration to introduce its latest collection in Manila.

TW Steel CEO and co-founder Jordy Cobelens flew in to launch the Dutch brand’s latest line, the TW Steel Pilot Collection, that includes aeronautics-inspired pieces executed in the unique TW Steel manner. Joining Cobelens at the luncheon were Lucerne Group of Companies president Ivan Yao and managing director Emerson Yao, brand manager Cathy Porlaje and marketing manager Judith Staples.

Cobelens also spoke about the “Pilot Your Life” campaign, a drive parallel to the collection that recognizes how individuals can take bold moves to reach their goals and ambitions. The online contest is open to all buyers of TW Steel watches who want to tell about their goals in life. The grand-prize winner will be flown to the Netherlands for the awarding rites.

The event was graced by select “Icons of Inspiration” — local heroes who have battled through life’s challenges and piloted their way to success.

TW Steel recognized four personalities at the Garden Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel with the “Pilot Your Life Award” for epitomizing the spirit of the Pilot Collection: actor and restaurateur Marvin Agustin, beauty queen Venus Raj, running coach Rio dela Cruz and Azkals team captain Chieffy Caligdong.  All awardees were given a timepiece from the TW Steel Pilot collection.

A 2011 Ernst & Young Business Awards “Emerging Entrepreneur” awardee, Cobelens himself had a humble beginning in the company. He honed his skills in the business by selling watches to fathers and relatives of his classmates.

Cobelens also put a personal touch to the store launch with some music from DJanes Ornussa Cadness and Sanya Smith of The Zombettes. The CEO has his own record label and played DJ at several Holland music festivals. He even displayed some of his own spinning skills that night.

Three lucky guests went home with timepieces from the TW Steel Pilot Collection.

Seen at the launch were TW Steel Asia’s Alan and Dawn Dacanay, CATS Motors Inc. president Felix Ang with his wife Grace, Richard Tiu, Divine Lee, Victor Basa, Phoemela Baranda, Onemig and Valerie Bondoc, Marco and Lara Alcaraz, Gretchen Fullido, Vince Hizon, Wendy Valdez, Gerard and Jan Pizarras, Rima Ostwani, Chucho and Mikaela Martinez  and PMAP models Ana Sideco, Lou Muñoz and Angel Co.

Salaminkera

In its effort to fight iron deficiency among women, the organic iron supplement Sangobion recently had a show to promote the cause.

The brand presented a one-woman show called Salaminkera to highlight the beneficial effects that iron has on the body. This educational and entertaining performance was topbilled by the well-loved comedienne Giselle Sanchez.

When it came to presenting Salaminkera, Giselle was the natural, most obvious choice. The loving wife, doting mother and established career woman is the epitome of a true Sangobion woman.

Coined after the term salamangkera, a Filipino word for magician or wizard, Salaminkera is ideal for those who love mincing words and always being told the truth.

With the help of supplement brand, Giselle hopes to inspire Filipinas everywhere and give them a boost of confidence.

The event was attended by the Sangobion ambassadors Cheska Garcia-Kramer, Jenni Epperson, Jackie Go, Frances Sales, Christine Dychiao and Rowena Wendy Lei.
