Goodbye to summer

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee - The Philippine Star

The celebration of Kasbah The Fort’s first anniversary was an occasion of great music, fine food and fierce fun. It was also a party that bade summer goodbye.

Kasbah’s owners, couple Martin and Madonna English, managed to transform the Fort Strip’s concrete walkway in Taguig City into a magical Boracay beach strip. The couple conceptualized the original and successful Kasbah located at Station 1 in Boracay (which got a mention on CNN recently).

The mix of sumptuous Moroccan food, soft sand, sunbrellas and shorts kept the mood easy. Guests enjoyed cold Corona beer as the sun went down. Beach beats played all night and until the wee hours of the morning. The music was provided by hip, funky and progressive DJs such as DJ Matt Lowe, Kasbah co-owner Marshall White, Abdel Aziz, Jay Ar Alcantara, Kevin Ruiz and DJ Herbie.

Revelers weren’t dampened by a quick rain shower, which only served to signal the start of more party action for the night. Belo gave away goodie bags to the beach bodies and hot British bartender Anthony White did a scorching bartending exhibition.

With fire dancers performing, an inflatable pool on the patio and sweet Boracay-inspired cocktails flowing, the celebration became one unforgettable moment to toast to the last days of summer and look forward to more exciting offerings from the Kasbah team.
