Horses and the sea

MANILA, Philippines - Spanish artist Ginés Serrán-Pagán recently presented his 201st exhibition through Horses and Memories of the Sea. Guests trooped to Now Gallery at the Ecoplaza Building in Makati City to witness his new and past creations. The exhibition was formally opened by Spanish Ambassador Jorge Domecq, Senators Ed Angara and Franklin Drilon, artists Juvenal Sanso and Betsy Westendorp, and Now Gallery owner and director Patrick Reyno.

Horses and Memories of the Sea recalls Serrán-Pagán’s love for the sea and horses. Born in the coastal town of Ceuta, Spain, he has made paying homage to the sea a part of his visual repertoire. The sea is rendered in various forms highlighting the different bodies of water that the artist has experienced since he embarked on a nomadic lifestyle, first as an anthropologist and then as an artist. 

His series of horses on canvas and paper and in pieces of sculpture represents his freedom and his sense of adventure, which he relishes every time he immerses himself in a different culture.

Others spotted during the exhibit opening were Dennis Villareal, architect Chito Antonio, Yolly and Alfonso Reyno, King Reyno, Yaying Dragon and Carmen Brias.
