HSBC introduces new Filipino CEO
Friends and well-wishers recently gathered in South Forbes Park to say goodbye to former HSBC CEO Tony Cripps and welcome the bank’s new CEO Wick Veloso. Wick is the first Filipino appointed to the senior role by HSBC in its 137 years of operation in the Philippines.
Heading back to his home country as chief executive officer of HSBC Australia, Tony said, “I will always cherish my stay in the Philippines. It has been an incredible experience, working with a great team and meeting many interesting people. I am delighted that Wick will be my successor. He brings with him extensive experience in the financial services industry and I am certain that I am leaving a great company and a great team in good hands.”
Wick said, “I am excited at being able to lead an exceptionally dedicated and talented team to take HSBC Philippines forward. I commit to be more hands-on with our clients. Thank you for making HSBC so successful here in the Philippines and we look forward to even greater success for the bank and its customers in the years to come.”
Brazilian birthdays
Restaurateur and businessman Raymond Illusorio Yap hosted a joint birthday celebration for his Brazilian friends Fernanda Cordeiro de Sousa and Ciane Xavier at his Congo Grille restaurant along Jupiter St. in Makati. Around 30 guests attended the private party and came in costume!
The party was strictly “no costume no entry.” Raymond came dressed in custom-made leather armor with an exact replica of the Braveheart sword on his side. Fernanda was dressed in a sexy leopard outfit while Ciane opted for a Matrix costume. Daniel Matsunaga came in a gym outfit and Alex Vega was a Brazilian football player. Malou Mello was clad in a fatigue outfit, Diego Feroni was a cowboy and Fang Shin and Louanna Caroline came as vampires.
Model turned DJ for the night Rafael do Prado played a combination of American and Brazilian house music. I was certain passing motorists along Jupiter were amused seeing costume-clad models running up and down the street when it wasn’t Halloween!
The gold standard
We tend to disregard the health risks brought about by our fast-paced lifestyles. Fortunately, nature has provided us with natural supplements like ginseng, a powerful aid proven to combat stress, boost immunity and improve mental and physical performance. Because of these qualities, ginseng is considered a gold standard when it comes to health benefits it can provide.
One particular extract of ginseng in the market is called Ginseng G115. Pharmaton with Ginseng G115 was recently launched with the promise of improving people’s quality of life.
Boehringer Ingelheim (Philippines) Inc. group brand manager Maureen Javier said, “Our commitment is to bring quality products that will improve and further elevate the standards of living of our valued consumers. This is why we are very proud of Pharmaton, which allows us to live up to our promise of enhancing the quality of life of countless Filipinos.”
Celebrity endorser Derek Ramsay personally shared his testimonial on how Pharmaton helps him enjoy an improved quality of life by enhancing his energy level, immunity, work performance, sleep and relaxation, social life and satisfaction.
