A blissful year for fashion in 2013

Class and sophistication cannot be bought, that’s for sure. And that’s exactly what United Atlantic Industrial’s lovely and hardworking vice president and Philippines’ Best Dressed awardee for 2010 Salome Uy exuded when she recently walked as one of the muses for Eric Delos Santos’ 2013 collection show entitled “Bliss.”

Prive Luxury Club on Bonifacio High Street was filled with fashionistas who marveled at the innate talent of Eric shown through his chic and very feminine collection. Salome sashayed down the runway along with supermodel Marina Benipayo, Ford supermodel Danica Magpantay, Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up Venus Raj, Rima Ostwani and Mary Villanueva.

2013 is definitely one year in fashion that we can all look forward to!

A tribute to a loving mother

The matriarch of the Saldaña clan, Doña Pinang Saldaña, celebrated her 93rd birthday recently at the Choi Garden Seafood and Shark’s Fin Restaurant on Annapolis Street in Greenhills, San Juan. It was a delight for her family and friends to see Doña Pinang in very good health and still proud of her family’s accomplishments after all these years.

A loving mother and a recipient of the Gintong Ina Award in 1998, Doña Pinang continues to be on top whenever family members need her, providing for their needs to show her dedication to her family. Aside from her family, she also serves in various civic organizations to help those who are in need. A good soul indeed deserves all the blessings in this world.

Happy birthday, Nelia!

Prof. Nelia Cruz-Sarcol, president and chief executive officer of the Global Group of Knowledge Companies, celebrated her birthday with relatives, associates and neighbors at Two Serendra’s social hall in Bonifacio Global City. 

A former international flight stewardess, Nelia, who is an Education magna cum laude from UP, has put up the Centre for International Education, Inc. in Cebu City (with a campus in Makati City).

It’s always a great pleasure to be invited to wine dinners, where you get to have a taste of the finest wines and the most scrumptious dishes.

Just recently, your columnist had the pleasure of being with an esteemed group of individuals for a plush wine dinner hosted by BestWorld Beverage Brands Inc. president and general manager Edna Diaz and Zamora International led by Asia area manager Jose Luis Gomez.

Business and society luminaries were welcomed at the Prince Albert Rotisserie of InterContinental Hotel in Makati. Top Spanish wines from Bodegas Ramon Bilbao were served to the guests.

Of course, such event will not be complete without the extra special dishes to match the flowing wine from the extensive wine lineup for the evening.
