MANILA, Philippines - Get ready to listen to classical masterworks.

Filfest Cultural Foundation and Insular with BMW and San Miguel Corp. present Rock Symphonies featuring violinist Joseph Brian Cimafranca and the Manila Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Prof. Arturo Molina on Nov. 17, 8 p.m. at the Insular Life Auditorium in Filinvest, Alabang. Classical masterworks by Saint-Saens, Brahms, Vivaldi and De Beriot will be heard with crossover renditions popularized by violinist David Garret such as He’s Pirate, Michael Jackson Medley and Mission Impossible.

Cimafranca hails from Cebu and is one of the new rising virtuoso violinists in the country. He started violin lessons with Jeffrey Solares under scholarship from the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra Development Program in 1997. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree at St. Scholastica’s College and has been a consistent prizewinner at the solo violin category of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists. He currently teaches violin at St. Scholastica’s College School of Music.
