An experience of bliss and comfort

MANILA, Philippines - When Tempur launched its new line of mattresses, president and CEO of ABS-CBN Publishing Ernie Lopez was one of the special guests invited to participate in a month-long test run of a Tempur mattress of his choice. Ernie and Tessa Prieto-Valdes were among those chosen to test the bed of their choice and I even wrote about it in my column. I also promised to give the results from one of the participants.

For this month-long challenge, Ernie chose The Original mattress. He said, “My previous mattress was quite firm so I didn’t want to change to a mattress that was too soft since I may have a hard time adjusting.”

He added, “The first few days after using The Original mattress, my back actually had to adjust. But now, after several weeks of using it, I feel very good. My one word for my experience is ‘aaah’ because that is how I feel when I drop into the mattress at the end of each day. It’s as if I get a nice soft hug every night and I know I will sleep like a rock.”

In his own words, here is a glimpse of his fully-loaded day: “On a typical weekday, I go to bed at about 10 p.m. so I can get up by 5 a.m. I meet with members of Polo Tri Team by 5:30 a.m. to either swim, bike or run up to about 6:15 a.m. I then take my kids to school and get to the office by about 8 a.m. I spend some time talking to the Master of the Universe and then let Him talk to me by reading the oldest, most touching love letter ever written to man. This always sets me up to have a great day every day!

“After work, I go home, have dinner, prepare for the next day, watch some television and/or read a good book. Weekends are even more hectic! I usually have a long bike ride or a long run and the rest of the day is spent with my three children. Sometimes we go rock climbing, practice arnis or just watch movies.

“On Saturdays, we eat out and then eat at home on Sundays. My day ends the way it began: on a Tempur mattress and a pillow. Because of my hectic schedule, my rest and recovery is the key to having energy the next day. But I can’t rest when I am stressed out and worried, so the key to my peace and happiness comes from my relationship with God. I give Him my problems every day and I can smile knowing I have entrusted my life to someone who loves me no matter what. This love gives me tremendous energy every day!”

Ernie added that he has been using the Tempur pillow and eye mask for several years now and has been very satisfied with the products. “I also know that its products are used by NASA astronauts when they travel to the outer space. So, if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me!”  

Based on research, 95 percent of Tempur users are extremely satisfied with the product and 70 percent have recommended it to a friend at least once. I myself have been using its pillows for years and I am completely satisfied!
