Manila says hello to Don Papa
The Bleeding Heart Rum Co. celebrated the launch of Don Papa Rum at Aracama Filipino Cuisine at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City. The rum brand is proudly made from Bacolod sugarcane. The premium small-batch rum got everyone talking as it was made available for everybody to enjoy.
Guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres as Don Papa Rum was being served. Despite the rainy evening, guests continued to pack the place.
Don Papa Rum mixologist Kathryn Eckstein created three cocktails: Kapag Serious Ka, a playful spin of calamansi, ginger and soda water; Coco Breeze, a guava and nata de coco-based cocktail; and Liquid Butterscotch, a mix that gave the hint of everyone’s favorite caramel candy.
DJs provided enjoyable live music while Carlos Celdran gave a short performance on the rich history of Don Papa, the man behind the rum. Don Papa Rum’s founder, Stephen Carroll, gave a toast, accompanied by speeches from brand manager Monica Llamas and head of operations Andrew Garcia.
Guests received rum vials on their way out.

Recently, my friend Ruffa Gutierrez sent me a message asking if we could prepare meals according to her diet prescription from the Cohen Lifestyle Clinic. I told her that I would get our people to work on this right away. Just a few weeks later, we were catering Cohen Diet meals to Ruffa and Raymond Gutierrez, among many others.”
