The beauty about great talent is that it can be passed on.
Pamana was an exhibit that featured artworks by the late artist Salvador Cabrera Sr. and his son, Jojo Ayllon Cabrera. It was held at the Altro Mondo Arte Contemporanea on the third floor of Greenbelt 5.
It was an exhibit of transcendence, which showed how Salvador has successfully passed on a legacy and talent to his children, particularly Jojo. Salvador’s younger brother is National Artist for Visual Arts Ben “BenCab” Cabrera.
BenCab also led the opening ceremonies by signing on the canvas just outside the gallery. He was followed by Jojo and fellow artists like Juvenal Sanso, Betsy Westendorp and Gines Serran-Pagan.
The celebration was also graced by art enthusiasts who came to see the art show. The exhibit also featured Salvador’s sketches and studies and his famous editorial illustrations made in collaboration with Emilio “Abe” Aguilar Cruz.
Pamana also featured Jojo’s creations made out of post-consumer materials such as plastic, metal and wood. Some of these were sculptural pieces of warriors like Katana and Soto, Kaliph Pulaka and Conquistador, which are Jojo’s versions of Lapu-lapu and Ferdinand Magellan.
The exhibit also showcased Jojo’s favorite sculpture In Nature, which was three feet in height and integrated with real plants.
One of Jojo’s special pieces of sculpture, a pencil holder, was raffled off and given to a lucky guest.
The Greek goddess of night
After the success of Hennessy V.S. Kaws, the cognac brand launched Nyx, another collector’s item in the V.S.O.P Privilege collection, at Prive Luxury Club.
For this edition, Hennessy carefully chose beautiful materials for a high impact design with a refined finish. To live up to its namesake, the Greek goddess of night, Nyx was made in striking colors of translucent platinum with metallic purple, making it luminous in the dark.
The Nyx bottle is also equipped with a specialty handle to complement its sleek design and for ease of pouring. Its QR code can be captured by smart phones to lead one to an exclusive website for an original interactive experience.
Nyx models lined Prive’s entrance, donning futuristic, platinum-colored body suits with each one sporting silvery bobbed hair. Hennessy Long Drinks, Ginger, Berry, Citrus and Apple were free-flowing throughout the night.
Host JM Rodriguez unveiled the collector’s bottle by unleashing the models in an energetic choreography as they held on to the bottle. Similar launches have been held around the world for the Nyx launch nights.
