Art for charity

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -

More indigent Filipinos shall be given proper and quality medical care as the PGH Medical Foundation Inc. (PGHMFI), a non-stock and non-profit organization established to raise funds for the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), recently held its fourth biennial art auction titled For the Love of PGH at the Manila Polo Club. The hardworking PGHMFI officers and executive committee led by president Dr. Gregorio Alvior, Jr., VP and chairman of the board of trustees Telesforo Gana, Jr. and corporate secretary Lolita Escobar-Mirpuri spearheaded the fundraising event for the benefit of the charity patients of PGH.

Guests and supporters eagerly participated in the live auction of 21 donated artworks by foremost artists such as National Artists Arturo Luz and Jose Joya, Araceli Dans, Lito Carating, Manuel Baldemor, Romulo Olazo, Ramon Orlina, Ramon Diaz, Betsy Westendorp, Nestor Vinluan and daughter Liv and Diosdado Lorenzo. Simultaneously, a silent auction was held featuring chosen paintings and pieces of sculpture, dinner dates with celebrities at posh restaurants and special vacation packages. Everyone enjoyed an evening of fine cocktails, breathtaking artistry and superb musical entertainment.

The event turned out to be a huge success with many attendees showing full support and love for the foundation’s laudable causes! Seen gracing the affair were Makati City second district Rep. Abigail Binay-Campos, Miss World 2011 First Princess Gwendoline Ruais and Aficionado Germany Perfume president and CEO Joel Cruz, to name a few.

More power to the PGHMFI for always helping its charity patients! Till next year’s auction!

‘Four toes’ at the sport of kings

Something else caught the eye of many during the action-packed 2012 Fila Polo Cup at the Manila Polo Club. It was the Skele-Toes, the revolutionary footwear with four toe pockets made by the famous Italian sports brand. At the polo match, Fila Philippines’ first couple Butch and Cris Albert also launched the company’s What the Heck is That? campaign, where the winner gets to star in a travel and lifestyle documentary wearing his or her favorite toe shoes by posting the most odd and unbelievable photo on Facebook. Charity mixed with class at the polo match as sales proceeds during the event went to the benefit of the iSport Life Ministries.

Seen during the event were Dee Zobel, Iñigo Zobel, Borgy Manotoc, Georgina Wilson, Bruce Colley and Carlos Mansur, among others.

Congratulations to Butch and Cris for a successful event as always!

All in the family

Because of the restaurant’s exquisite cuisine prepared by seasoned chef and GM Patrice Freuslon, chic interiors and friendly staff service, the Fores family of physicians of the Makati Medical Center unanimously chose Society Lounge as the venue to celebrate Chat Fores-Lozano’s birthday.
