The Art of Having Fun

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

A lavish feast welcomed the guests of Grey Goose vodka when it hosted an exclusive dinner for Manila’s press at the Goose Station at the Fort. Chefs Rob and Sunshine Pengson meticulously prepared the dinner that was inspired by and paired with cocktails made from Grey Goose’s latest pear-flavored variant La Poire. Special dishes like white asparagus flan with crab jelly and avruga (made of herring) caviar and the Goose Station version of eggs Benedict were paired with specially mixed La Poire-based cocktails.

The extravagant dinner was held not only to introduce the new variant to the Philippine market but also to honor the new man behind Grey Goose and Bacardi in the Philippines, Bacardi-Martini commercial manager Bobby Campos. A well respected executive in the industry with decades of experience, Bobby promises many exciting activities and events for the Grey Goose this year.

Judging from how much fun the dinner was, the guests are anticipating what Grey Goose has in store for this year!

At the Height of Success

Whether for professional or leisure running, train like a pro with a pair of shoes that optimizes each stride while you run.

Skechers, a global leader in the footwear industry, recently partnered with Discovery Channel in mounting the Vertical Marathon held at McKinley Hill in Taguig City. The activity introduced the brand’s newest line of revolutionary footwear that integrates the mid-foot strike technology — Skechers GOrun.

The shoes’ mid-foot strike technology is designed to enhance the natural running performance of runners by positioning the body for an efficient mid-foot strike. This technology reduces injuries as a result of heel striking.

Heel striking is very common among runners. However, this style of running is not only inefficient, but also generates sudden and large impact that in the long run affects the knees and muscles.

With Skechers GOrun, runners can easily transition to mid-foot striking and feel the big difference as they can run longer, faster and stronger. By landing mid-foot, runners can push off from the ground faster and spend more time moving forward. At the same time, this technique allows the knees to bend just in the right angle when they run.

Thousands of professional and leisure runners from all over the metro participated in the marathon’s 3K, 5K and 10K races. After running, participants checked out the interactive booth of Skechers GOrun, where they had the chance to lace up a pair and run on treadmills to experience the functionality and comfort of these new running shoes.

Celebrity fitness trainers Chinggay Andrada, Connie Fortich and Michelle Estuar led the launch of the brand.

“We support Discovery Channel’s Vertical Marathon as we share the event’s cause to promote fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. The marathon is a unique activity that gives one a total workout — revving up the cardiovascular system, the arms, the legs, the knees — and burns about twice as many calories than any other sport. Active Filipinos engaging in dynamic activities like running will need a high-performing footwear that keeps pace with them — and so we offer Skechers GOrun,” says Katrina Ong, the brand’s marketing communications officer.
