A toast to Foster!

It was a fine evening of friendship and music as the ever gracious Dr. Vicki Belo of the Belo Medical Group recently hosted an intimate dinner for a good friend, the “Hitman” David Foster, who came with gorgeous wife Yolanda and American singer-songwriter Michael Bolton, Ashanti and Philip Bailey of the popular band Earth, Wind & Fire.

Vicki, together with charming daughter, Belo Essentials managing director Cristalle Belo Henares, warmly welcomed guests to her well-appointed home. Knowing that the Fosters are fond of Japanese food, the host had the famous Kai restaurant prepare a delectable variety of Japanese dishes fully complemented by cold and warm sake. The dinner had echoes of compliments such as “addicting,” “delicious,” “mouthwatering” and “heavenly” from David Foster and his elite group of friends. Entertainment was at its best as David surprised everyone by playing the piano and holding an impromptu concert-like performance while Philippines’ RnB Princess Kyla sang a captivating rendition of I Will Always Love You.

A special celebration

In celebration of the fruitful year that has passed and the promising year ahead, the ever lovely Advance Paper Corp. president and CEO Connie Haw recently hosted a heartwarming dinner for her family and close friends, who have become a source of love, happiness and inspiration in her life. Connie’s elegant residence in Green Meadows once again became the perfect venue for this joyful gathering. Guests were in a jovial mood all throughout the night, socializing and enjoying the excellent menu especially prepared for the occasion.

In attendance were brilliant Zest Air president and CEO Alfredo Yao, the dynamic couple Hoseki founder Faico and wife corporate affairs director Zabeth Co, charming Beabi owners Winnie Go and Willin Chan, Best Dressed awardee Salome Uy, Aida Cobankiat and First Life president and CEO Peter Coyiuto, among many others.

An island sanctuary

In today’s fast-paced world where work literally travels with you, it is hard to find a place where one can truly relax sans e-mail, mobile phone and WiFi. Apparently, there is still such a spot in the Philippines as Joe, Roselle and Ria Rebano found out. Isla Arena, off the coast of Puerto Princesa, is home to baby turtles where they are nurtured until some are adopted. The turtles are then released to the wild where they live on their own until they go back to the Isla to lay their eggs.

Isla Arena is a sanctuary not only for turtles but for humans as well. With only two cabanas on the island with no other guests in sight, it really does feel like having a private island for the weekend. A feast of your choice including ribs and lobsters fills your stomach amidst a picturesque backdrop of the sandbar or the sea.
