The essence of Filipina beauty
Some of the country’s most beautiful faces and fashionable celebrities added charm and splendor to the glam of the Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012, which showcased the most fashion-forward creations, hottest makeup colors and gorgeous hair trends.
Making this week-long occasion even more stunning and grand was L’Oréal Paris, which set up a chic and comfy lounge featuring its latest makeup shades and hair care products that bring out the essence of Filipina beauty. L’Oréal Paris executives were present at the venue throughout the week, readily available to talk about their latest beauty variants.
Spotted at the L’Oréal Lounge was today’s hottest actress and L’Oréal Paris brand ambassadress Anne Curtis, who was also seen in several fashion shows wearing elegant outfits, which were complemented by her wavy locks.
Guests who stopped by the beauty lounge rested on comfy couches and were served with cocktails and beverages of their choice. Exciting makeovers from L’Oréal Paris professional beauty experts were also offered at the venue.

Reliving the days of knights and fair ladies
It was with a grand ball that the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) celebrated its 32nd anniversary at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Led by its president Nene Leonor, director Grace Palma Tiongco and chairperson Thelma Gana, together with co-chairpersons Karen Macasaet, Rosita Lesaca, Nene Pe Lim, Gilda Salonga and Rose Basa, the affair was a big success.
The Rizal Ballroom was transformed by talented decorator Junjun Ablaza into a “Royal Court,” reminiscent of the days of chivalry, of fair ladies and knights in shining armor.
Entitled the Royal Ball, this elegant and magnificent celebration of music and dance attended by well-heeled guests, featured Michael Williams and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, who sang excerpts from the Broadway hits, Camelot, The King and I and My Fair Lady. FCCP members and their grandchildren with some guests performed with the artists to the audience’s delight in Ascot Gavotte, I Could Have Danced All Night, Camelot and Shall We Dance.
The Royal Ball’s benevolent sponsors included former President Joseph Estrada, Imelda Cojuangco, Cebuana Lhuiller, Goodwill Organics and Equity Homes.
FCCP sends students to schools through its scholarship projects as well as other activities related to arts and culture.
Summer is never over at the Cebu Yacht Club
People from Manila, Davao and Bacolod seemed to have flown to Cebu to have two days and two nights of pure fun. In spite of the fact that the season of sun was over, it still seemed like summer at the beautiful Cebu Yacht Club.
More girls than guys surprisingly went to the Wakeboard Camp sessions where music played all day as guests mingled with each other via water gun wars. They also played that juvenile yet fun game of beer pong. Others checked out the boat show. Over 25 people brought their own jet skis for the exhibition by the Marcelo B. Fernan bridge.
A Fun & Sun boat called “Malandi” (flirty) took the party out to sea at night with DJ Marvin Evangelista of Manipulate-Distortedfunk UK dishing out the tracks with the DJ station on the boat deck. Drinks overflowed on board as expected.
After the cruise, the party continued on land with DJ Jack Stone and 2010 DJ of the Year Kutlyfe entertaining the party crowd until midnight. DJ Ace Ramos took over after midnight with the crowd loading water guns with tequila and beer and the oh-so-delicious and my favorite Lechon Cebu was served. That Lechon Cebu stuffed with garlic was so good with beer! Andre Blanco ended the set that night.
Rhipstop Soul Clothing CEO and Cebu Yacht Club planning director Kaz Onozawa said, “The Wet Weekend 2011 at the Cebu Yacht Club was aimed to bring more awareness of watersports among the young people today, to launch Quiksilver in Cebu and as well as promote the Cebu Yacht Club as a lifestyle destination.”
Quiksilver and Roxy dressed the entire Cebu Yacht Club crew members who were also given pairs of Sperrys. The weekend was hosted by X-Games Asia’s Richard Sharpe. The event was made possible by Quicksilver, Roxy and Rhipstop.
