A party for more scholars
We celebrate our birthdays in different ways. Some throw a feast while others intimately celebrate with family and friends.
To a member of the Catholic Women’s Club (CWC), celebrating one’s natal day is a huge step for a very worthy cause — its Vocational Scholarship Program. CWC president Mimi Valerio came up with the wonderful idea of turning the birthday parties of CWC members into fundraising events wherein the celebrators co-host the party and, in lieu of gifts, guests are requested to donate to the scholarship fund. So far, the CWC has supported 17 scholars at the Don Bosco Institute, four scholars in Punlaan School and five students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Plans are afoot to double the number of scholars to celebrate CWC’s 90th anniversary.
Together with CATS Motors Inc.’s Mercedes-Benz, CWC will hold another fund-raiser, Extravaganza 2011, a spectacular presentation cum dinner dance by its members together with the world-famous Bayanihan on Sept. 3 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Nonie Basilio, the event chairman, enjoins everyone to celebrate their milestone with them. Founded in 1921, the CWC also helps various charities such as the Elsie Gaches Village, the CWC-Gawad Kalinga housing project and the greening of the Arroceros Park.
Mabuhay to the women of CWC!
Back-to-back events at Boracay Regency
Henry Chusuey, the consummate chairman of Boracay Regency Resort and Spa, the first triple-A resort in the island paradise, continues with his extremely busy schedule to maintain his property as the premier resort in Boracay under the aegis of the Henann Resorts. Recently, the luxurious resort became the venue for three consecutive major events — the inauguration of Hap Chan, one of the country’s leading Chinese food chains at the resort’s North wing, Boracay Foundation Inc.’s (BFI) induction of board of trustees and its new members for 2011-2013 and the Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Company mid-year conference. Among in attendance were well-known personalities such as Hap Chan president John Sy, Sen. Frank Drilon, Lourdes and Jose Yap and UNILAB president and COO Clinton Hess.
Congratulations!
