Celebrating the world's thinnest, lightest and brightest notebook

In its desire to showcase its latest high-tech acquisition, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (SEPCO) signed up three home design experts to interpret the characteristics of the Samsung Notebook Series 9 — the company’s thinnest, lightest and brightest notebook.

The notebook is the world’s thinnest, measuring only 16.3 mm (0.64 inches) in depth and with a screen size of 13 inches. It is the world’s lightest with a weight of only 1.31 kg (2.88 lbs). It is also the world’s brightest — using only Samsung’s LED technology SuperBright Plus display (400 nit) with 16 million color reproduction, making it 80 percent brighter than other notebooks. It’s all encased in duralumin metal alloy only used in specialized aircrafts.

Samsung’s In Perspective event was inspired by three of the country’s home and lifestyle magazines, Metro Home, My Home and Real Living magazine. The magazines recreated the Samsung Notebook Series 9 features into a one-of-a-kind home design exhibit held at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell.

Metro Home interpreted the notebook’s Thinnest feature as a reflection of a homeowner’s unique character. The magazine’s editor-in-chief Carlo Tadiar said, A homeowner believes that the important aesthetics are in the essentials. Thinness is not necessarily the result of vanity, it is more the condition of wanting only the essential.

Taking the computer’s Lightest characteristic, My Home magazine fashioned a light and breezy living space. Its editor-in-chief Jie Pambid said, The feeling is anything but heavy, white surfaces shine and glow as light bounces and creates reflections of light. Light on light.

Real Living magazine interpreted the Brightest characteristic in three ways — light, intellect and color. Magazine editor-in-chief Rachelle Medina said, The functional pieces found in this small area also serve as décor — yes, including the sleek Samsung Notebook which served as a light source. Who says reading nooks are boring? Style plus function meets a small reading corner — truly a bright idea.

Samsung NPC product manager Hannah Francisco remarked, Expect only the best as Samsung takes your laptop experience to an even greater level with truly comprehensive mobile experiences. We also offer our customers a complete and comprehensive notebook that meets all of their needs with one premium device with the Samsung Notebook Series 9.

Grooving after the ‘feverish’ Philippine Fashion Week

Guests strode over to Fever Luxe Lounge at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza after the curtain call of Philippine Fashion Week for the official after-party hosted by L’Oréal Paris in partnership with Moët-Hennessy.

Over 25 shows from 101 Philippine designers didn’t stop fashionistas from celebrating all night at the official after-party. Belvedere offered free-flowing glasses of cosmopolitans and lychee martinis while single malt scotch whiskey were offered, too, as guests enjoyed the tunes of DJ Mars Miranda.

Fever’s Rococco-style interiors were dressed with backstage photos treated in black and white from the fashion week runway shows. The after-party was perfect for guests to groove and unwind after a long week of teased locks and five-inch heels. Floor to ceiling images of the seven international brand ambassadors — including the Philippines’ first L’Oréal woman Anne Curtis — lined the exterior walls.

After 14 years of the Philippine Fashion Week success, the longest-running fashion event in the country teamed up with its first official beauty partner L’Oréal Paris. For this year’s Holiday collection, the beauty company lent its expertise in makeup and hair care, getting all the designers’ muses ready for the catwalk.

Managing director of L’Oréal Philippines Luc Oliver-Marquet said, We are very proud and honored to have been a part of this year’s Philippine Fashion Week Holiday Collection. Our support for this event is an extension of our commitment to true beauty. We are here, not only to set the trends of tomorrow, but to make runway-ready looks accessible to every Filipina.
