A new way to be fit

The country’s pioneering wellness hub — The Spa — is revolutionizing ways to help keep everyone in great shape as it introduces barre3, a workout that combines yoga, ballet and Pilates. This revolutionary workout was developed by US celebrity fitness trainer Sadie Lincoln and has been a favorite of Manila’s fitness enthusiasts since 2009 when The Spa brought it to the country. Barre3 aims to improve balance and basic alignment of the body as well as stimulate muscles to lengthen the body to complement active lifestyles. The Spa business development manager and barre3 Philippines managing director Tanya Tan recently welcomed a group of health enthusiasts at the barre3 facility of The Spa at Rockwell in Makati for a 60-minute intense workout. It was an hour filled with invigorating stretching and sweating that was participated in by Hoseki corporate affairs director Zabeth Co and designer Knoi Esmane, Karmi Palafox and sisters Margee and Melissa Varela. They all felt the benefits of barre3 on their bodies through the guidance of the amiable instructor Joie Viado. Served after the workout were refreshing and slimming Del Monte Fit ‘n Right drinks and fruit snacks. What’s more, they also had the chance to relax and enjoy the other services of The Spa after the workout.

Distinguished personalities from the business and diplomatic circles recently had another reason to be in Cebu — the Canadian pork promotion launch of the five-star Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (MPPC). Held at the award-winning Café Marco restaurant, the affair was led by gracious MPPC GM Hans Hauri and graced by Canadian Ambassador Christopher Thornley. Guests truly had a fantastic time as they were treated to the distinct flavors and goodness of various Canadian pork specialties.
