Chopard celebrates 150 years of watchmaking
A young and talented craftsman named Louis-Ulysse Chopard established his workshop in the small village of Sonvilier, Switzerland in 1860. The popularity of his watches grew and built a solid reputation due to its precision and reliability. His grandson Paul Andre Chopard decided to strategically relocate the Chopard headquarters to Geneva, the home of Haute Horlogerie, in 1920. None of Paul Andre’s sons wanted to take over the business, which was sold to Karl Scheufelle. The Scheufelle family perpetuated the company’s rich heritage, making it a widely acclaimed brand with its solid reputation in watchmaking and jewelry design.
Held in its Greenbelt 5 boutique, Chopard Asia’s managing director Patrick Normand and guests enjoyed a night of cocktails and exhibition of Chopard’s 150th anniversary collection. Models paraded while showing off the Happy Sport Watches, the brand’s iconic and famous ladies watch line known for its faultless elegance; Happy Diamonds, a collection of meticulously produced and designed jewelry where the diamonds enjoy a total freedom of movement; and the Mille Miglia, Chopard’s sports watch line reflecting the similarities of watchmaking and the automotive world.
Lucerne’s Emerson and Ivan Yao welcomed guests who marvelled at (and some bought) the much fancied timepieces and jewelry.
