Acqua for life
MANILA, Philippines - Water is a commodity many people take for granted. Wait till you hear that hundreds of millions of people around the world do not have access to potable water.
Giorgio Armani is committed to promoting access to drinking water alongside Green Cross International to raise awareness of the issue. Through the “Acqua for Life Challenge,” Armani aims to help provide a minimum of 40 million liters of drinking water worldwide to people without any access to it.
Armani says, “Water is such a simple word, but like all simple words, it has a profound significance because where there is clean water, there is life, energy, wellbeing, a serene encounter with nature and a marvelous sense of freshness.”
Acqua for Life’s objective is to provide drinking water to populations without any access to it. Some 900 million individuals are still deprived of safe, clean and healthy water for their daily essential needs.
Armani has long been aware of the work carried out by Green Cross International, which strives to meet the interdependent global challenges of peacekeeping, reducing poverty and preventing environmental degradation. He offered to make two of his famous fragrances, Acqua di Giò and Acqua di Gioia, the vehicles for the “Acqua For Life” campaign. Every bottle sold will generate a donation of 100 liters of drinking water per year to children and their communities.
(Acqua di Gio and Acqua di Gioia are exclusively distributed in the Philippines by L’Oreal.)
