A New York-inspired party hosted by Tessa Prieto-Valdes at her residence introduced Tattoo Torque, the country’s one and only super-powered home Internet connection fueled by a cutting-edge technology called GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network).
Tessa invited her guests to witness the speedy Globe-powered Tattoo Torque service at her abode, which was designed to look like New York’s famous destinations like the Meatpacking District, Chinatown and Central Park. Guests enjoyed munching on New York treats like Peter Luger-style steaks, Sabrett hotdogs and mini-Reuben sandwiches.
Globe head of broadband and landline marketing Dong Ronquillo demonstrated the innovative features of Tattoo Torque, without buffering or delays.
A bevy of Samsung LED TVs, laptops and Galaxy Tabs were hooked up around the house so partygoers could surf the web, update their Facebook or tweet news of the bash to their friends. And in true Tessa fashion, she gave out special awards to her guests such as the SOHO Artist Award, The Best King Kong roar and the New Yorker of the Night.
Tattoo Broadband also brought in its new brand ambassadors like Rio de la Cruz, Alodia Gosiengfiao and Sarah Gaugler. Pianist David Starck and saxophonist Michael Young kept guests entertained.
Tattoo Torque’s available speeds range from 6Mbps all the way up to 100Mbps. Every plan comes with a landline plus a WiFi router so you can wirelessly hook up every corner of your home to a single high-speed Internet connection. Initially available in the enclaves of North and South Forbes, Bel-Air, Urdaneta and Serendra Clusters D&E, this hot new technology has set the bar on web surfing.

Groupon stings Manila
The “buzz” is out: there’s a shopping hotspot that’s just a click away. Welcome to Groupon Philippines, formerly known as Beeconomic Philippines, where you can get great deals every day at a fraction of the price.
Formally launched at Robot Restaurant and Lounge, invited guests got stung as president and founder of Groupon Philippines Lori Villafuerte explained the newest online hive. Guests were greeted by giant plasma screens featuring the Lifestyle League heroes as they helped mere mortals like us search for the best deals in the city. Guests were treated to servings of Japanese dishes courtesy of Niño Laus as they explored the deals of the day on the website. Hosted by G-man, Gio Salvador, the launch introduced the new website. Guests played “If the Deal is Right” with winners receiving an iPod Touch and other GCs from Groupon’s partner merchants. As an additional treat, two lucky guests received their own iPad. The Groupon Beeconomic launch was supported by Robot Restaurant and Lounge, The Spa, Bon Chon Chicken, Dermalosophy, NY Square and Studio from the SM Ladies Wear Department, Uberto Duranti, Mainstreet and Virtual Plus from the SM Mens Wear, Beverly Hills 6750, Skin Glow and David’s Salon.
Groupon is the pioneer deal-a-day website from Chicago that introduced the ingenious idea of “collective buying,” which offers users discounts when buyers band together to purchase an item.
Beeconomic, the Singapore-based site founded by siblings Karl and Christopher Chong, adopted the concept pioneered by Groupon and made them the pioneer in their own country. Lori, then Bliss Spa’s Southeast Asia head, partnered with Karl and co-founded Beeconomic Philippines. Beeconomic was recently acquired by Groupon for its Asian expansion, together with two other Asian group-buying websites, Hong Kong’s uBuyiBuy and Taiwan’s Atlastpost. With the acquisition, Beeconomic Philippines officially became Groupon Philippines on December 2010.
Lori says, “This is really a very exciting time as we strive to educate our partners and subscribers about the newest form of shopping. The numbers just grow by the minute.”
She adds, “We are committed in revolutionizing the way people shop and making our subscribers happy with our sweet deals and promising them excellent customer service. This commitment is what makes us stand out.”
