Winter Wonderland in Manila

It was a grand launch when Canon Marketing Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) jumpstarted the holiday season with the unveiling of seven of its top-of-the-line products at the Edsa Shangri-La Manila.

The hotel’s grand ballroom was transformed into a heavenly dreamland with gigantic snowflakes while interactive booths were set up to highlight the features of Canon’s new products. There was a dazzling performance by aerial dancers followed by the opening remarks of Alan Chng, president and CEO of CMPI. After a sumptuous lunch, the new products were introduced in style with a fashion show by models dressed up as angels!

Headlining the new products is the Canon EOS 60D, a mid-range DSLR for light-advanced amateurs. Also featured are new EF lenses, extenders and battery grips. Canon brings the world’s slimmest, fully flat shooter with 10x optical zoom, the Canon Digital IXUS 1000 HS. Two telephoto cameras join the fray: the affordable PowerShot SX130 with 12x optical zoom; and PowerShot SX30, Canon’s superzoom compact camera with 35x optical zoom. Full High Definition video capability and improved hybrid image stabilization system are the features of the G12 and S95. The new Selphy CP800 compact photo printer is now equipped with USB Memory support. Having said this, I should actually get this and get rid of my old Selphy!

Canon’s assistant marketing manager Ernalou Amechachurra and product marketing supervisors Mary Rose Torres and Jay-R Romero presented the products to the media attendees while raffling off some Canon products. With the Canon Winter Wonderland launch, Christmas has indeed come early!

Forever Youthful

Anti-ageing brand Olay Philippines recently celebrated its many years of helping Filipinas love their skin at the “Forever Olay” event held at the Manila Peninsula recently.

The elegant luncheon gave guests a more intimate look at the iconic skincare brand — starting with the love story from where it sprung, the innovation that helped it grow and the passion it evoked from women all over the world, including Filipinas, who fell in love again with their youthful skin through Olay.

The event, hosted by Menchu Antigua, featured an activity of creativity, wit and charm. Guests were asked to fill in the blanks of a quote card that read: “Time can change -- but remains forever.” Winners got to take home iPods.

Olay Total Effects was conceived from listening to over 6,000 women across the globe. An extensive survey disclosed that all these women were concerned about similar signs of ageing, namely fine lines and wrinkles, blotches and age spots, rough skin texture, uneven skin tone, skin dryness, skin surface dullness/ loss of radiance and enlarged pores.

Rising up to the challenge of providing an all-in-one solution to address all these issues, Olay created Total Effects, which was designed to help fight seven signs of skin ageing with a single product. The iconic black-and-gold bottle was first launched in the South East Asia region in 2000, entered the Philippines in 2006 and later went on to provide an extensive skincare line-up that would form the flagship boutique of Olay.
