A special dinner for the new Speaker

PEOPLE - Joanne Rae M. Ramirez -

Nuvoland chairman Menardo “Nards” Jimenez recently hosted a dinner for Speaker Sonny Belmonte at the posh Nuvo.City Lifestyle Center on C-5, Libis, Quezon City. All present were the Belmonte siblings, namely, Philippine Star editor-in-chief Isaac Belmonte, Philstar Global president and DBP director Kevin Belmonte, Philippine Star president and CEO Miguel Belmonte and Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte Alimurung.

The Speaker’s lovely daughters-in-law Isa, Rose Anne and Milette also joined the intimate gathering. Nards was accompanied by his wife Kaye Jimenez, along with children Joel (with wife Gidget Jimenez) and Laurie Jimenez-Westfall.

Nuvoland president Rally Martinez with wife Rica made sure everything about the dinner was perfect. Supporting them were VG Martinez and wife Mian. Friends of the three families were also there to celebrate, including Pangasinan Rep. Gina de Venecia, lawyer Joseph Tan and wife Patrice, Jose Pardo and wife Marlyn, SSS Commissioner Diane Aguilar, Navotas Mayor John Tiangco and wife Barbie. Nards Jimenez led a toast to the continued success and health of Speaker Sonny Belmonte, who celebrated his birthday last Oct. 2.

Cheers!

Kris wins by ‘losing’

Kris Aquino has dropped at least two dress sizes since she made peace with an important person in her past — Vicki Belo. After a misunderstanding and a parting of ways (albeit temporary), Kris says she is “back with the best.”

She has her new figure to show for it. She’s lost two pounds and dropped to a size 4 in her jeans and to a size 36 from a 38 in her dresses. She works out, takes herbal capsules prescribed by Vicki and undergoes non-invasive slimming procedures like the “Multi-polar,” which tightens flabby problem spots (like inner arms and thighs). For her complexion, she underwent Cosmelan, a kind of facial peel.

“I think my losing weight is part of my healing,” said Kris during a dinner at the Red of the Shangri-La Makati. Kris said her new health regimen (“I’m so into exercise.”) is part of a desire to “live long.”

“My mom (former President Cory Aquino) died when Bimby was only two. He doesn’t have the happy memories of his lola that my older nephews and nieces have,” Kris confided.

She also likes it when her son gushes, “Mama, you’re beautiful!”

Kris inked her contract as Belo endorser on May 9, a day before the May presidential elections.

“That was important to me, because Vicki got me before the certainty that Noy had won the elections,” she said.

All’s well that ends well.
