Search for the Watchpad crew

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

Summer is not yet over. In fact, it is getting more exciting with PLDT myDSL’s search for the Watchpad crew. The final 10 contenders were recently revealed at Encore, in a night dubbed as X. The event ultimately signaled that contestants are getting closer each day to becoming famous from being anonymous. The winners will be chosen through online voting.

Vying for the five Watchpad crew slots are 10 semifinalists namely Carole Monique De Leon, George Schulze, Goldameir Gamir, Jacqueline Milner, Mara Schnittka, Nikko Ramos, Yasi Pressman, Arbie Baguios, Dani Miranda and Paolo Villanueva.

The entire program that night was streamed live over myDSL’s portal, Watchpad. Among the Watchpad crew celebrities spotted that evening were Rhian Ramos, Starstruck’s Sarah Lahbati, Diva Montelaba and Steven Silva, Steph Henares and Gino dela Peña who hosted the live streaming. Sponsors who dropped by included Zhorai Lipayon of Sony and Patrick Tan of Seair.

Hosts MC Nathan J of Wave and Isabel Oli got the party started as guests looked forward to meeting the 10 finalists. Each of the contenders had a moment to try to woo the crowd. To jumpstart the selection of the Final 5 winners, models went around the party venue with Sony Vaio laptops, allowing guests to directly vote for their favorites. Encore’s resident DJs Yoshi Uy and Mark Nicosia kept the party going, with performances by Pikaso and Pop/R&B artist Juno.

The finalists also had the chance to meet American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson during her concert at the Araneta Coliseum. Concert highlights and interviews will be seen on Watchpad.

The Watchpad crew finalists were chosen based on their unique personality, love for the Internet and a passion in life — music, sports, performing arts and even advocacies relevant to today’s generation.

Each winner will bag a brand new Sony laptop, free myDSL subscription for a year, P100,000 cash and other prizes. They will join the ranks of famous celebrities like Rhian Ramos, Isabel Oli and drift champ Alex Perez as part of Overdrive. They will also participate in the Gabay Guro program of the PLDT-SMART Foundation.

As the new faces of PLDT myDSL, the Watchpad crew will be privileged to represent not just a superbrand but a status like no other — a platinum status that’s most trusted by Filipinos. They’ll be featured on the hottest entertainment portal in the country — Watchpad.

A celebration of life and beauty

Samsung partnered with photographer Paolo Pineda to deliver the first of its kind “moving photography” exhibit.

Spotlight, featuring Paolo Pineda, was held at Member’s Only at The Fort with Samsung executives Jan Roman and Paulo del Rosario. Both Roman and del Rosario were definitely awestruck with the magic-like talent of Pineda as he immortalized the beauty of his muses through digital photography.

Featured subjects included Georgina Wilson, Carla Humphries, Isabelle Daza, Liz Uy, Solenn Heussaff and Bea Soriano. Each muse was shot with 150 frames, displayed in succession through Samsung LED’s to give each set of pictures a motion-like feel.

Through exceptional color, clarity and display performance that is Samsung’s signature for style, the pictures lived at the moment, faithful to their “of-the-moment” captions and concept. With superior technology at par with Paolo Pineda’s expectations and caliber, each photograph displayed remained faithful to its color and clarity, allowing crisp image for every picture.
