An entire year of privacy

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

The invitation came with a hat. It said: Wear the enclosed hat to win prizes. With this, the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era was relived at Members Only when it turned one year old recently. The by-invitation-only party at the exclusive club was indeed pulsating.

Some of Members Only’s owners like Erik Cua, Tim Yap, Louie Ysmael and GP Reyes were there to welcome guests. Songs by the Rat Pack and big band sounds played as men came in suits and ladies in cocktail dresses. Even a mini casino was set up for guests to try their luck in winning prizes that included Lalique perfumes for women and men.

Charlie Ken Marketing, exclusive distributor of Lalique, co-presented the evening’s affair. Johnny Walker, 42 Below, Bombay Sapphire and Bacardi were free flowing the whole evening. Lucky Lalique Man and Woman of the Night Mike Ellis and Geri Giles took home two beautiful Lalique vases.

Smooth installations

Art and beauty were everywhere in the “Lissage” (French for “smoothness”) launch party hosted by Kérastase at the Establishment in the Fort. The event featured art installations that transformed strings, glass and rattan wires into exquisite manifestations of beauty. Lissage aptly summarized the theme for the new Oléo-Relax Slim product by Kérastase. From Recherche Avancée L’Oréal, Oléo-Relax Slim is a luxurious two-step salon ritual that transforms dry, rebellious and voluminous hair into a slim, smooth and completely controllable material. Through a unique association of Ceramides that rebuilds brittle hair and a trio of Camelina oil, Pracaxi oil and apricot oil, even the frizziest hair becomes manageable.

The party featured art installations inspired by the idea behind Oléo-Relax Slim. In Ryan Villamael’s “Where the small things dwell,” rattan wires mimicked the intricacies of the shells on snails. “Stalactite” by Goldie Poblador manipulated glass to form an elegant and fragile installation. Geoff Gonzales’ creation, “Texture #4,” was red strings forming a voluminous mass of tangles, with birds tousled up in the mess.

Beautiful works of art, excellent food and drinks and cool giveaways were signs of a memorable evening that marked Kérastase’s biggest (so far) party of the year.
