The countdown begins for StarBall!

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -

Excitement is building up as ballroom dance aficionados await The Philippine StarBall, the country’s most prestigious open international ballroom dance event. Thirty couples of different nationalities will show their winning form at this year’s dance competition. The event is organized by international dance competitor Mikaela “Pinky” Puno, wife of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno, Jojo Carino and the Council of United Professional Dance Teachers of the Philippines, with the support of the Department of Tourism and the First Gentleman’s Foundation. The fabulous dance competition will be hosted by internationally renowned dancer Charlotte Jorgensen, Wilcon Builder’s endorser and TV host Edu Manzano and World Professional Ten Dance Championship winner Gary McDonald at the Makati Shangri-La Ballroom on Feb. 15. Proceeds of the show will go to Kythe to benefit children with cancer. See you there!

A Marian procession in modern times

Reviving a century-old tradition of religion, a solemn Grand Marian Procession recently took place at the historic Intramuros in Manila. Led by the Cofradia de la Immaculada Concepcion founding chairman Imelda Cojuangco and vice chairman Carmencita Reyes with the continuous support of pioneer president, the late Supreme Court Justice Antonio Barredo and Dr. Jimmy Laya, the 29th Marian tradition was successfully attended by religious personalities and guests as well as charitable sponsors. Congratulations!

An Oriental treat

The lovely Vicky Zubiri, resplendent in a red silk dress, recently threw a Shanghai Tang-inspired Chinese dinner for her close friends and loved ones at The Tower Club in Makati. Toasting for another year of good health, good wealth and good fortune, each guest was in a jolly mood as he or she happily welcomed the Year of the Ox with a delectable buffet spread replete with mouth-watering creations by New York-based chef Lorrie Reynoso. What a truly great way to start the year! Cheers!

An Ox Year at A. Venue

When it comes to excitement and pure clean fun, A.Venue in Antel Lifestyle City tops them all. A. Venue is the country’s first integrated entertainment mall and events venue under one complex. It is led by Antel Group of Companies president Elena Jao and marketing director and developer Felino Lao. Recently, A. Venue celebrated the Chinese New Year with the usual flair and off the charts attraction for which it has now been famous for ever since its most welcome and pleasant invasion of Makati Avenue. In this vein, one of A.Venue’s top dining establishments, Capone’s, led by owners Jay Server and Rico Blanco joined in the fun and had their own treats for valued guests. The way things are going, expect A. Venue to be the number one lifestyle hub in the Metro. See you there!

(A. Venue is located at 7829 Makati Avenue, Makati City.)

Home improvement through technology

In an effort to significantly improve customer service levels, Wilcon Builders’ Depot Inc., the country’s leader in home building needs, recently made a strategic investment in the Lawson M3 Enterprise Management System as part of its plan to support its growing business. “We are investing heavily in cutting-edge IT as a platform to enhance and support the growth of our business in spite of the current economic climate business,” said Wilcon president and CEO William Belo. “This new relationship with Wilcon is evidence that we are becoming the obvious choice for retail/wholesale companies by bringing a solution that delivers a greater return on investment,” said Lawson Asia VP and managing director David Hope. Congratulations!
