Staying pink

Winning the fight against breast cancer by staying in the pink of health was the message of the recent breast awareness event dubbed “Stay Pink” held at the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City. Bessie B. Legarda Memorial Foundation founder and Sen. Loren Legarda spearheaded the medical mission with the support of the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care Inc. Guests were given enlightening talks by medical experts and shown engaging performances from sought-after celebrities. The event culminated with a fashion spectacle showcasing the creations of the country’s top designers.

A golden rose in bloom

The cool and relaxing ambiance of Tagaytay Midlands was the perfect setting for the special golden birthday luncheon of the radiant and hardworking Wilcon executive VP and COO Rosemarie Bosch Ong. Rose’s guests from the top echelons of the construction and design industry, together with her other friends from the colorful society crowd, feasted on lip-smacking eat-all-you-can Chinese cuisine while catching up on old times. What a wonderful celebration for a truly wonderful lady.

A thrilling Dia Delos Muertos

Redefining the Halloween scene with its pulsating music and energetic vibes, Alchemy, one of Manila’s hippest night spots in Pasig City, led by owner Don Puno, recently celebrated a one-of-a-kind Dia Delos Muertos in its three-leveled world-class lounge bar and club. Amplified with high-powered lights and sound system while swathed in dramatic black made more horrifying with spooky décor by Borgy Manotoc, everyone danced the night away at the main venue Decagon. Partyphiles enjoyed a scrumptious Asian feast while engaging in lively tete-a-tete at the modish O-Lounge on the first floor while the young and the hip-hop circle moved to its own beat at the chic Liquid on the second floor. Manila’s beautiful people partied till the wee hours at the fabulous Vapor on the third floor, virtually driving the spirits away. Congratulations!

One year of unruffled service

The first anniversary of the Red Cross Makati City Branch Rizal Chapter was recently celebrated at the Dasmariñas Village Pavilion. Its chairman, Luis Galvez, proudly described some of their key accomplishments such as a 285 percent increase in blood collection and the creation of a virtual blood bank, safety services that include basic life support and first aid training for over 3,000 individuals, disaster management, community, health and nursing services, free training for Red Cross Youth, creation of a web portal among many others.

Welcoming a little princess

Talented parents, ten-time Palanca award-winning novelist, Dean Francis Alfar, and Palanca award-winning fictionist and playwright Nikki Alfar, along with the proud grandmother Princess Monjierra Alonto-Disini, joyfully welcomed the newest member of their family Rowan Go-Alfar. A lovely baptism was held at Christ the King followed by an intimate get together with close friends and relatives at the Seven Corners, Crowne Plaza Hotel.  Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby girl!
