‘Library of memories’

-

The distribution of the Library of Memories — a compilation of write-ups and photographs from Holy Ghost College High School Batch ’57, Silver, Coral, Ruby, Sapphire and Golden Jubilarians — is the culmination of the Golden Jubilee celebration of HS ’57 of the Holy Ghost College in Mendiola.

It truly has been a year-long celebration.

At about this time last year, members of Class ’57 (both here and abroad) started reuniting to start preparing for their homecoming. Being the spirited women that they are, 83 percent of them were present during the homecoming. That is quite a number considering many even came all the way from the States and Australia.

Having been reunited, life would not be complete for them without bonding together once again. So, in addition to the homecoming which was the main event, they had a grand picnic in Alfonso, Cavite. When they felt a picnic was also not enough, they partied, too, till the wee hours of the morning on their Nostalgia Nite at the Manila Polo Club.

Indeed, they had fun. But that did not hinder them from remembering that sharing was and will always be their top priority. High School Class ’57 was able to raise P2.5 million, P500,000 of which they gave to Bulihan, an outreach program of the CHS Alumnae Foundation. They gave the P2 million to their alma mater — to whom they owe their very substance as persons — for the maintenance of the school so that the College of the Holy Spirit may continue developing women of character just like them.

The Library of Memories now marks the start of this class’ preparation for their Emerald Jubilee for this very book will keep the flame alive. Through it, they will always be united by the memories they can continuously relive.
