Go ‘C’ the new Benz

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

The picturesque view of the famed Manila Bay sunset became an inviting backdrop when Cats Motors Inc. (CMI) unveiled the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the newest addition to the legendary three-point star collection. CMI chairman Gregorio Yu said the Mercedes-Benz business has grown substantially these past few years. He added, “We still have a long way to go but are sure well on our way.”

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class was driven before the crowd as a simultaneous presentation about the new car model was shown through beautifully-designed JVC flat-screen televisions. Cocktails and delectable food were provided by Hizon’s Catering as Johnnie Walker overflowed.

The event was hosted by Rovilson Fernandez and Tricia Chiongbian and was attended by guests such as Harbour Center’s Michael Romero, Lamoiyan president Cecilio Pedro, ABS-CBN’s Ernie and Jeena Lopez, Consul Evie Costa and Naty Papa, Jen Rosendahl and William Go.  Celebrities spotted included Ricky Davao, Lindsay Custodio and Liz Almoro.

Soaring high

PATTS College of Aeronautics, the country’s foremost aeronautical school, inaugurated its four-building campus at Lombos Avenue, San Isidro, Parañaque City. Two of these are the four-story Main Building and the two-story Annex Building, both specially designed to accommodate the administrative offices, technical shops, computer laboratories, classrooms, lab-kitchens,  mock hotel room, the 300-seater audio-visual room, the fully stocked library, etc.  The third building is the extensive Sports Gymnasium, equipped with a clinic, cardio-machine and weights room, a venue for both sports and cultural events; and the fourth, the Tuscan-inspired fully air-conditioned Capilla de San Peregrino, all set in spacious landscaped grounds surrounded by an open veranda.  They have come a long way from the small rented hangar at the Domestic Airport area in Pasay City which was the original home of PATTS when it was founded 38 years ago.

Formal festivities began with a Mass officiated by Bishop Rolando Tria Tirona, OCD, DD, followed by the blessing of the Chapel of St. Peregrine and the Gymnasium. The inaugural ceremonies started with a welcome address by PATTS director Engr. Jose Eduardo Valdez, punctuated by a serenade from PATTS’ Universal League of Singing Enthusiasts (PULSE).

PATTS COO and president Ma. Felisa Valdez delivered the inaugural address and spoke of the college’s transformation over the years into a fully-developed globally-competitive educational institution. Plaques of appreciation were distributed to architects and engineers Alfredo San Miguel, Alexander Cabrera, Rogelio Velandres and Francisco San Miguel for their design and construction of the new buildings, and to PATTS building administrator Charlie Garcia for overseeing the said construction.

An audio-visual presentation of PATTS’ history followed leading to the inaugural toast by lawyer Ambrosio Valdez Jr., PATTS chairman of the board and CEO who was joined in by all the guests.
