The recent 12th ASEAN Summit in Cebu was an astounding success, thanks to the many Cebuanos who gave the Asian leaders and their delegates a truly heartfelt and resounding welcome. The Hilton Cebu Resort and Spa, led by its chairman Manuel Osmeña and GM Peter Pedersen, was one of those who greatly contributed to the summit’s triumph. The Hilton Cebu became home for the entire Japanese delegation, including the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The friendly and thoughtful reception by the hotel impressed many of the attendees, a strong proof that Filipinos can be at par, and even surpass, world-class standards in the hospitality industry.

The hardworking Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) president Lulu Tesoro Castañeda teamed up with the indefatigable Nene Leonor to head the steering committee for its 27th "Timeless" Annual Ball. As expected, the event was a huge financial success and the great number of guests was so pleased with the abundance of delicious apples, oranges, kiat-kiat, seedless grapes and colorful flowers on each table to take home. Boysie Villavicencio took charge of the physical arrangement, converting the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La into a combination of joyful warmth and a vision of plenty literally overnight.
