Nuvo is three!
August 16, 2005 | 12:00am
It was more packed than usual a familiar scene when Nuvo throws a party and it was a special party that night. The hip and hot bar and restaurant in Greenbelt 2 has turned three. It seems like Nuvo has been there for even longer as almost everyone in Manila (and those who visit) make it the restaurant and bar of their choice.
Guests enjoyed the free booze from Johnnie Walker, Moet & Chandon, Jack Daniels, Jagermeister, Amarula, Skyy Vodka, Two Oceans wine, Absolut Vodka and Remy Martin.
Nuvo has established itself as the place to be, whether dinner or after dinner. At the rate its going, we can expect it to remain that way for a long time.
Others seen at the anniversary were Vina Morales, Primesofts Romain Barberis, Carminia Pavia, Premier Wines & Spits Spencer Ty, Diageos Liza Tan, Shu Uemuras Tessa Dragon, Absinths Christine San Diego, fun couple Peng and Vicki Perez de Tagle, Karen Grupp, sisters Mimi and Juliet Tan, Ana and Vince Bitong, Tito Herbosa, Angela Trillo, Myrza Sison, Chris Parker, Chito Melo, Riina Sinisalo, Alexandra Escat, Raymond Bagatsing and Leah Navarro.
Casa Armas celebrated its Baila a Guerra de Vino in Taberna de Casa with La Rioja Wines. La Rioja, a provincial community, is known as the winemaking capital of northern Spain.
Taberna de Casa Armas Rioja wine war festival saw guests help themselves to a selection of wines while listening to Arriba Band. Guests enjoyed Tabernas Rioja wines by Ramon Bilbao, Rene Barbier, Cune Rioja and Marques de Riscal Reserva.
Jesus Armas, chef of Casa Armas, said, "Celebrating the Rioja wine war is what makes Casa Armas food more enjoyable. One can truly savor the richness of Spanish cuisine."
Señor Armas has concocted new Spanish dishes that are cheaper on the budget yet still authentic for Taberna.
Its Platos Combinados composed of Spanish rice, tapas and tortilla or penne al horno (baked penne with chorizo), bocadillo berenjas (eggplant, bacon and cheese sandwhich) is reasonably priced.
Taberna de Casa Armas is located at the 2/F Paseo Center, Paseo de Roxas Avenue corner Sedeno Street, Makati City.
The Greenbelt 3 Lagoon was the venue for the launch of Samsung MP3 Players Museum Of Sound Inspiration, the giant electronics companys way of introducing its newest line of portable digital music players.
Since inspiration was the theme of the night, the events set-up was a three-part stage with multi-featured dioramas, attractive Samsung models and promo-crew dressed in sexy cutting-edge uniforms. Just as hot was the prospect of the after-party slated to happen at Absinth.
Event host Borgy Manotoc spelled out the ways how music inspires art, sport, and fashion with the help of co-hosts and MTV VJs Don, Nicole and Claire. Talents like cool artist Kiko Escora, UAAP basketball star Joseph Yeo, premiere male dance group the Manoeuvres and hip fashion designer Avel Bacudio demonstrated this.
Kiko, whose creative juices flowed through an on-the-spot painting exhibition, turned up his MP3 and started painting the dioramas. Joseph and the Manoeuvres donned theirs and showed off some amazing moves. Avel added his funky trademark to three beautiful ramp models filling his ears with music.
Samsung president Hyuck Jae Shim welcomed the guests. Seen were Rustans Joel Tantoco with Lisa Rossiter, Ayalas Javi Hernandez with wife Teresa, Aimee Marcos, Santi Picornell, Mandyboy and Neny Eduque, Cessie Colayco and Virgil Prieto.
With its new line of music players, Samsung urges everyone to express themselves, be original, set the trend, and be inspired. Take your pick from Samsungs new line and wear your music!
