The mark of ‘Z’

The much-respected Dr. Stephen Zuellig, whose family has been living in the Philippines for around a century now, was recently honored with a dinner that people continue to talk about until now. Dr. Zuellig is a very influential investor and one of the pillars of our country’s economy.

The warm gathering was held in a private mansion that bespoke of refinement and stylish living that is both classic and delicate. Soft lighting set the mood of the place as everyone marveled at the wide narra wood planks, lofty ceiling, antique lampshades, and the other picturesque features of the place that gave it an aura of subdued elegance. The guests were all in high spirits as they sampled the mouth-watering food and the smooth wines.

The affair was attended by the people from the top echelons of business, society, and government led by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The guest list included Ambassador Ignacio Sagaz and wife Aurora; Ambassador Jesus Tambunting and wife Marge; top businessman Washington SyCip; Jose Cuisia Jr. and wife Vicky; Ambassador Paul Dimond and wife Carolyn; Ambassador Frank Ricciardone and wife Marie; and HSBC’s Warner Manning.

Dr. Zuellig, we honor your contributions to the country!
A Grand Comeback
A bienvenida party is always a special occasion because it brings together long-time friends and beautiful memories. One of the most well-attended bienvenida parties recently has to be the one for Dr. Norman San Agustin and his lovely wife Biba, international lawyer Tunting Cruz Matters (she does matter a lot!) and businessman husband John Matters and Cordon Bleue chef par excellence Melissa Lopez and Parisian realtor fiancé Joel Journe.

Hosting the event jointly with the talented architect Gerry Contreras were the ever dazzling and sophisticated Mayenne Carmona, Jojo Kierulf Zabarte and the elegant Sonny Tanchangco. The fabulous penthouse of architect Gerry was filled with a jovial air, especially when the King of Philippine Rock n’ Roll, Ramon "RJ" Jacinto and the gifted musician Dr. Norman San Agustin provided the lively entertainment. The catering flair of Millie Reyes was as usual well-praised, because there in the generous menu were favorite Filipino recipes that balikbayans greatly missed.

Welcome back, dear friends!
