MEXICO CITY, Mexico — Hundreds of people, young and old, take advantage of Mexico City's brand new, eco-friendly skating ring, the largest in the world, although the rink is not made of ice but from ultra-dense polymers.
"We don't need water, we don't need electricity, we don't need fuel, and we do not emit CO2. This rink as you see it mounted here does not require to be plugged in to electricity, it saves the energy consumption equal to about 4,000 households," Hans Broder, Glice representative in Mexico said.
"It's a high-density polymer that gets very close to being like ice. Eco ice as we call it, was designed and invented by professional hockey players," he also said.
